I think I screwed up D:

I don't know where to put this, so I guess I'll just put it here....
Okay so today, I tried out for science bowl, because I really do have a passion for science. But I really don't think I made it, since I left a LOT of the answers blank. So I was wondering, will colleges think I'm trying to 'pad my app' if I end up doing science bowl for only two years? Also, would they consider it 'paddinig' if I tried out for every single science-related academic team? The other teams I'm trying out for are Science Olympiad and Ocean Science Bowl, maybe Math Team since a good foundation in math helps...
But I'm trying out for these teams more for the sake of learning, than college apps. If I don't end up on these teams, I'll still study science outside of school anyways, but I don't know how else I can demonstrate that passion. Help? :[

sorry but all ECs are padding

You can do research over the summer.

^Droyd, that’s not true.

Droyd, what the hell are you talking about?? EC = Extracurricular = something outside of school. So doing something outside of school is “padding”?

2 years is fine. I’ve done certain clubs for just two years. Just say there was other stuff to do.

:] thanks!
I’ll tryout next year, and I’ll do some extra science research even though I don’t really know where to start

Just mass email a bunch of professors in the field you are interested in. It bugs the hell out of them, but it works sometimes…I wouldn’t recommend doing this if you don’t have a clear passion though…

what do you mean do research over the summer?

I really doubt colleges would care. At my HS, a couple of people start academic team in sophomore year but more start in junior year. My sister started in senior, but not to pad her app. Her friend wanted to try out but it was my sister who got on. The friend now goes to Harvard while my sister goes to Northwestern. I don’t think either college cared.
