I think I want to switch to cs but it may be too late?

Originally, when I majored in bioinformatics, I thought I was going to be able to work in more of a computer science enviroment where we used the tools of bioinformatics to analyze genomes and determine what exactly causes different genetic disorders, in orer to be able to treat them more directly.

However, after doing more research on the subject, I feel as though a cs degree would be more beneficial to me in that it would be more likely to get me into my field of interest. Currently, I feel like I'm working harder, not smarter, in my degree of choice- I feel like I could have taken the cs route and have achieve a more direct route to my desired position.

Anyway, to get to the point. I am currently a sophmore who has taken programming 1 & 2, calc 1, and is taking discrete right now. Would it be possible for me to complete my degree as a cs major if I switched degrees now and finished my gen ed. reqs over the summer and winter?

The only way to answer your question is to go to your course catalog, figure out what classes you need to get a CS degree, and create a plan for how long it would take you to graduate. Map out how long it would take, and figure out if you’re willing to do what your plan says you have to do. Make sure you include any college requirements for graduation, and keep in mind that you may have to have some flexibility if classes are only offered at certain times or once a year or something. Your college advisor may be able to help you with this if you need help.

I didn’t become a CS major until the start of my junior year. I had taken all the general ed classes I needed before then.

I took linear algebra class during the summer between my junior and senior year, but I graduated on time.
