***, I think I'm actually going to miss my JC...

When I started JC, I thought my life was over. It was community college. I was officially scum. Then, it turned out that the experience was a lot more stimulating than high school, and that I actually looked forward to going to many of my classes. I started taking my coursework really seriously... Two years later, I'm sitting here, SIRed at my dream school... And about ready to cry at the thought of leaving my JC behind. Several of my friends are still there - some aren't ready to transfer yet, but others still haven't gotten their asses in gear. I'm taking summer session, and even going on a study-abroad trip, so I'll see a couple of my favorite professors over the summer, but there are others I may never see again, and as eager as I once was to get out of here, I'm suddenly really sad to leave.

arrrrrrggghhhh i caved!!!

i bought my stupid cap and gown for the commencement ceremony…

and i tried it on with all my medals/honors cords/stole and hood…aint gonna lie…

i look legit.

:P

LOL @ Jane. ;)

:*

i had to…all the kids were doing it.

It’s weird, because I never expected to get sentimental about this.

Uh, I’m about to start CC next fall. Of all of the UC’s, I only got into UCR and UCM… Jesus. When you said “scum”, you made me feel that sharp pain again… of which I got from people who said, “I thought you’re smart” after I told them where I’m attending next fall.

^LiveTheLimit

I got a lot of flack when I started to wear my UCSC sweatshirt around my high school campus. I got the “oh why are you going there, I thought that was the reject school” remarks as well. I know how you feel, but push forward and get into UCLA/CAL. Then you can laugh at all the haters and those who labeled you as the stupid community college kid.

JC was like going to the bathroom

glad its over, but i had to do it

Thanks, Cali Trumpet. May I know how good UCSC was?

Bagels,
I hope I do not offend you, but can you clarify further on why “JC was like going to the bathroom”?

LOL. bagelsbagels. you always seem to come out of nowhere with quirky remarks. i love it.

UCSC was…

…an experience

Santa Cruz is actually not that bad. Because of the lack of competition (a serious lack of competition), you can pretty much get straight As while having a ton of free time to beef up your resume. There are a ton of opportunities if you know where to look, and some of the professors will literally hold your hand into internships and jobs. You don’t get the chance to bond with professors elsewhere as much as you do here.

Sounds awesome. Cali you snobbed that up for UCB? wow… and I thought UCB only admitted smart people

RUNS

amazon & jane- you guys are DEFINITELY not the only ones…

I’m torn: I walk around (Pierce) and think, “THANK GOD I am transferring… only 2 more weeks of this.” It seems like the underbelly of society started attending in the last year or so, but at the same time, I’ve ADORED my professors this semester. I’m a little sad wondering how I’m going to build relationships with the ones at UCLA… It won’t be as easy to stand out.

And yeah Jane, I tried on my cap and gown too :stuck_out_tongue: Even pondered the best hair style for making the cap NOT look ridiculous. Any suggestions?? I have really long hair!

Haha, I tried on my cap and gown too with the honors cords/stoles and the transfer medal and looked in the mirror and it’s like… dude this is it. This is it and I’m so ready to jump.

What a crazy, long journey this has been.

@wwlink

Let’s see here:

Cal’s Econ department is ranked 6th in the world, SC’s Econ department is unranked: [ARWU SUBJECT 2009 Economics / Business](http://www.arwu.org/SubjectEcoBus2009.jsp)

Cal’s Econ department is ranked 6th in the nation, SC’s Econ department, again, is unranked: [Rankings - Economics - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-economics-schools/rankings/)

And you are questioning my decision to attend the top public school in the nation, because…?

@wwlink

I realize now that your post was a poor attempt to be funny/sarcastic.

@ jane:
have you decided where you are going yet?

and has nic announced his decision yet?

^ not yet.

and idk where nicky is hahahahaha he is watching over us.

kernlsanders…hey!!! hahahaha

i have the same dilemma…i hate wearing crap on my head.

there is a way the cool girls are wearing the cap these days…its like not fully on and allows you to style your hair with more freedom:

[Eleonora Graduation UCLA June 2009-1323 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■/photos/jpickell/3630021655/)

you can also make pretty curls wear it like this:

[UCLA Pilipino Graduation on Flickr - Photo Sharing!](UCLA Pilipino Graduation | Justin Ilar | Flickr)

lets see…do you have bangs? if you have bangs…long bangs… and long hair you can frame your face with the bangs wear your cap like all the cool girls are doing it:

[CIMG3622 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!](CIMG3622 | MC@UCLA | Flickr)

or you can wear it traditionally and straighten your hair to make it look nice like the ladies here:

[Eleonora Graduation UCLA June 2009-1174 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■/photos/jpickell/3631079602/)

i suggest if you’re going for a new look…don’t cut all your hair off…cut your hair only a little at the ends…and add a side bang to make it look cute…to frame your face.

i had long hair :frowning:
and then i accidentally donated it…so now my hair looks almost exactly like this…or i can style it to be like this:

either way kernalsanders i am sure you will look pretty on graduation day.

if you are gonna wear your cap nontraditional i suggest you get black bobby pins to keep it in place.
** notice all the pics were from a UCLA graduation

OOh! Thanks for the style tips hunny! Is it bad that I got little butterflies when I saw the UCLA pics?? Ha ha it’s so far away (especially for me because I’ll have a year in Afghanistan in between my Junior and Senior years sad face) but I can’t wait to wear that UCLA stole.

And ew ew ew, the Pierce College cap has a crazy point in the front… A la this one: http://static-p4.fotolia.com/jpg/00/00/46/61/400_F_466177_qphDN2GQa6yU9fgMs2uRa7d8WBLMVA.jpg</a> Does yours have that? It’s going to be very hard to coordinate that.

DEFINITELY Going to do a hairstyle testrun. When’s your grad? Mine’s on the 9th.
