I've definitely got ideas of where I want to go, but getting in is a whole different story. Chance me please? My stats stand as thus:

Public School student going into senior year
Caucasian Female
3.81 UW GPA
1st Decile

SAT - 1950
CR - 650
M - 630
W - 670 (10 on essay)
Taking it again in October after studying.

SAT II
German - 570 (taking at least 2 more in November, as this one sucked big time)

EC's

-National Honor Society
-won second place at the German Fallfest Competition at Millersville University
-scored in the 85 percentile on the AATG German exam
-vocal ensemble club during ninth grade
-Quizbowl during tenth grade
-working as a cashier at a supermarket for almost a year
- treasurer of Student Historians club at my school
-worked with special needs kids and helped them do crafts/helped organize activities for them to do (during school for the past two years)
-"Walking Tour"...about to be a tour guide for the elementary school kids for the second year in a row. I take them to different historically significant landmarks in our town and explain why they're important.
-Civil War Reenacting in Gettysburg for the past four years

APs: 11th grade I took Stat and got a 3 on the test (I suck at math). 12th grade I'm taking Economics, Biology, German, and American History

Other classes: Honors for everything except science, and I'm moving up to AP senior year. I also dropped down in math because I suck.

Major: Undeclared

Schools:

George Washington U
NYU CAS (haha)
University of Maryland (College Park)
Penn State U (main campus)
University of Delaware
University of Rochester
Gettysburg College

P.S. If my credentials look unfocused, this is because...I lack focus. Sorry.

George Washington- match
Penn State- match
Gettysburg College- match
NYU- reach

I'm not familiar with the other schools, so I can't really give you my opinion. Oh and your SAT score is actually very good, it's just "average" by CC standars. I have similar stats haha :)

Will that 3 on my Stat AP test be looked down upon at all, especially since some of these colleges only offer credits to 4's and 5's? It's still qualified, and it's not like I got a 2 or a 1. Plus, my transcript and coursework definitely show that I'm weaker in math than other subjects, so scoring qualified on a math AP test can't look too bad.

are u planning on taking the german with listening test? remind me if I'm wrong, but i thought you werent allowed to take more than one listening test at a time?

What do you mean? I took it without listening in June, and I'm not even sure if I'm going to try to retake it at all. I might take US History and Biology because I'm taking both AP's for those next year. And if I am up for a third one, well, I guess it could be German.

Do you mean that if you take a listening test, that's the only test you can take that day?

Yeah, I'd say you stand a great shot of acceptance everywhere except NYU, and even there you have a reasonable shot. I think you're definitely in at GWU, mostly because that's the college I know most about.

dorkO where'd you hear about them liking weighted more than unweighted? Because that is not true at all...its a combination. Ad-com's have to know a TON about most if not all schools in their zone and then know how to weigh the weighted vs. unweighted GPA. Normally they look at the transcript and the weighted/unweighted GPA and come up with something on their own to really measure academic success. For example, at a school that you can only take 3 AP classes you wont have as high of a weighted GPA as someone else, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't get in if your unweighted GPA is better and if your transcript shows that you tried to take everything you could and then do really well in those classes. There is NO simple theory or formula for admissions success. So they certainly do NOT like weighted more than unweighted.

Good to know, Jman21, though it made me feel queasy because I didn't take the hardest science and math courses offered for all four years. Ugh!!

I wish I wasn't worrying about it. I'm way stronger in English/Social Studies than math or science...and it's not like I'm going into English/SS definitely.
