I think I'm going mad. HELP PLEASE!

So I've been waitlisted to five universities already: UCSC, UCD, UCSB, Brandeis University, and University of Rochester.

I've been extremely anxious and disappointed these past 2 weeks because I feel that I have the worst luck in the world, to be waitlisted by so many different schools. Then again, I feel pretty lucky as well to be even considered for Rochester and Brandeis when I've been waitlisted at UCSC. Has anyone else been waitlisted by these many schools too? Here are some of my stats to provide a little background info:

3.2 UC GPA
GPA 3.4, 3.7 weighted
1920 SAT, 1360/1600
Subject tests: 620 Literature, 700 Math IIC, 640 U.S. History
Rank 70/240 in small private school
Extracurriculars: Community service in New Orleans, over 100 hours of hospital work, grade school tutor, helped kids in chinatown in NY, 12 years of violin, recreational basketball, etc.
Essay: I daresay very well written essays, as I spent weeks upon weeks of planning and have heard great feedback from a lot of people who read them
Asian, but didn't list my race

I feel that schools don't want to give me a chance because my gpa and test scores are subpar, but they don't want to reject me outright because they see potential. Is there a good chance that out of these 5 schools, one of them is willing to take me off the waitlist?

Thank you everyone for responding!

Did you apply to any other schools?

Yes I have, I still have UCI, UCB, and UCLA decisions coming out. As for privates, I still have tufts, nyu, jhu, cornell, cmu, northwestern, and bc decisions. I’m feeling really bad about them though, because the only place I’ve been accepted to so far is UCR. I was deferred at UMich Ann Arbor.

Looks like we applied to a lot of the same schools and have comparable stats.

GPA: 3.1 UW, 3.7 W
UC GPA: 3.6
SAT: 2250 (1500/1600)

I also applied to UCI, UCB, UCLA, Tufts, NYU, Northwestern, and University of Rochester, but still haven’t heard from them. I’ve been accepted to UCSD and UCSB but rejected from UCD.

nothing is wrong with going to community college. I was thinking that I would get in like 2 colleges that I applied but then I realized that they were so far that I would not go there anyway. So I was telling myself to consider my local cc. It’s not bad and transfer is easier.

you have applied to very competitive schools- my bet is you will get in at least one of them…

Do a search on CC for threads related to how to get off the waitlist if none of your top choices come through.

For example, if you got good grades last semester and can show that it’s part of an upward trend, that would help make your case for admission.
