i think i'm screwed for UCs. feedback please?

I'm trying to apply to some UCs, but I think I'm screwed with my current grades.

Currently my average gpa for both sophomore and junior year is 3.07. However, I took an IB Business Management class (i got A's both semesters in there) in my junior year, so I'm not sure if that counts as part of my GPA. If not, then my GPA would be slightly below 3.00. On top of that, i got a D+ in my AP Art History class during my 2nd semester sophomore year; however i took an Intro to Art class at a community college and got an A in there. (does this affect the way colleges look at my art class by any chance?)

My SAT score was 1970.
Critical reading: 600
Math: 730
Writing: 640

Can you also tell me which UCs are possible? (if any >.<)

GPA is definitely too low, but I would definitely try UC Merced and Riverside. Your SAT's are very good for both, and there's no hurt in trying!

As long as you're eligible for UCs, you still have a chance. Your admissions tests scores are above average for the lower UCs. If your ECs are solid, you have a chance at Merced, Riverside, and Santa Cruz.

it would help if you lived in california, haha. Is your GPA there unweighted?

Assuming you are in CA, you can find you high school here: https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/servlet.jsf;jsessionid=F58BE6D4AD0BE990D8E5398381C5EF7F?_flowExecutionKey=_c5D3B4A80-978C-4A20-3573-8AECEED449A8_kD7307844-D725-9270-2F7A-578F87459300 all UC-approved courses for your school are listed. Only UC-approved courses are used in the gpa calculation.

Use these instructions to calculate your UC GPA: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html

The gpa instructions referenced above say that if you repeat a course in which you received a "D," the "D" will not be used in gpa calculations. I don't think that will apply to you, because the courses are not the same. If there is room in your schedule, you might try to re-take the actual class.

Enter your information here to see if you are eligible: http://www.ucop.edu:8080/eligibilitycalc/begin.jsp

If you are not a California student, you are not eligible with your gpa. If you are from California, have completed the A-G requirements, and have GPA and tests scores (see eligibility calculator above) that make you eligible, you are guaranteed a spot at a UC campus (but not necessarily of your choice).

Good luck!

I don't think you should be hopeless. The IB class will be calculated in as will the CC art class (it will be weighted just like an AP class). Your SAT's are very good and you have a chance to make it into a few of the UC's. Keep your grades up first semester. Good luck!

to nooob: yes, I live in California, so I calculated my unweighted grades

Well, I re-calculated my grades, and if I calculated them right, then i have a 3.04 GPA. However, would the D+ in my AP Art History make a big impact on my acceptance even when I took the Intro to Art class at my community college? I don't think I have room for another class to re-take my AP Art History class.

My EC are:
1 year of American Red Cross
3 years of Academic Decathlon
2 years of Future Business Leaders of America
200+ hours of community service
private tutoring for a year

I want to apply for ucsd, ucsb, uci, and BU.
What are the chances for those?

UCSD=very high reach
UCSB and UCI= high reaches
BU=not sure
