I Think it's Called "Chancing" Someone?

Hope you got that little bout of sarcasm there. Anyway, I digress. I don’t really know why I’m asking for this. Okay, I mean, yeah I do. I’ve been endlessly stressing over NYU and I guess this will either tide me over, put me in a positive mindset, or assuage the inevitable rejection for the next two months, depending on the consensus here. I applied CAS, RD, and I’m kinda sorta undecided. So, please feel free to toss input, and do it honestly. Thank you so much, all!

Essays: CA essay was about going from making jokes to get the title/label of being funny to a genuine love of making people laugh. Specifically mentioned projects in high school like my campaigns that I received recognition for because I primarily used comedy to succeed.

NYU supplement was club-centered; basically explained how my clubs and involvement right now would transpose over to NYU. Specific mentions of study abroad, internships, College Core Curriculum, Freshman Seminars, performing arts, how I want to start a field hockey team, wanting to join the AAP and how I’m done dealing with race being a kind of elephant in the room in high school.

Also a side question: I did not fair well in pre-calc in junior year (got a C as a semester monthse), but I’m more or less killing it in Calc with As, will they take note of this progress positively?

Again, thank you all so much!

This won’t let me edit my post for whatever reason but side side note: I’m pretty desperate, more than I’m letting on, so please if anyone at all could help I would love that

SAT 1 is about 50 points too low, the GPA is a little low but the ECs seems diverse so you have a chance.

SAT a little low, however, your GPA is average and your great ECs make up for it. Essays sound interesting and shows passion. Good chance!

Hmm… Your “soft” factors seem pretty strong, but I get the feeling CAS is a lot less holistic than they make people believe. Your supplemental essay sounds very average, and I heard NYU wants creativity in it, so I’m not sure if that’ll be a problem. SAT scores are on the low end but not a complete deal breaker. Weighted GPA is low compared to Unweighted, so it makes me wonder about the rigor of your course load…

I would say you had a 43% chance ED II, but with RD and the sheer number of applicants, I’d say 30%, which is still a good chance for NYU if you think about it.

Could you please chance me?

I took all honors all 4 years two AP last and this year with the exception of theology freshman and this year which is because no honors or AP are offered. Since you were wondering.

Oh ok… Then how does your school calculate weighted GPA? I just think it’s strange that your weighted isn’t much higher.
