I think my admission is going to be rescinded.

Best case scenario for my end of year grades is a 3.0 unweighted
right on the cutoff

but it all depends on whether I can get at least an A- in just one class
but the only way I can do that is if the teacher is willing to boost my final grade a bit higher than it woul have been by the book
due to my doing great/ extra work this quarter
I'm really scared

berkeley is one of the very few schools I got into and the only one Ican afford

idealt with some personal problems and really screwed up first semester

should I contact berkeley
Or wait until I finish the year to see my final grades

bumpsssssssss

From anecdotal evidence, you should be fine. Wait till the final grades come out, so you know if you have to notify the school.

You can always explain to your teachers about your situation and see if you can work on a special project for extra credit.

Bubbles has it right, RELAX!

First, work as hard as you can for the rest of the quarter to bring up your GPA. Even if you come up a little short in the end, the school will understand if you notify them about your personal situation. Welcome to Cal!

Yup, you’re screwed. Give up all hope now and register at your local community college as soon as possible.

Definitely do your best to focus on academics and pull that up. Also, talk to that teacher and explain the situation, asking if there is anything else you can do to raise your grade. Explain it well enough that it’s clear how much difference this will make, but don’t go into gory details. Don’t call Berkley at this point. Just work on your grade.

Also, please try to use proper capitalization in posts to make them easier to read. Thanks. ( :

Yes,register at community coleg cause ur going nowhere big honey

Re proper capitalization
I’m on a phone so
But sorry

To serghes…
Not sure if serious

But to the posters who said that I should be fine, I was under the impression that it was a strict condition of admittance and that failure to meet this condition would result in admission being revoked like automatically.

Although most of the posts I’ve seen here regarding being revoked have been posts like mine worrying about the possibility or posts in which people said they called
And worke out some compromise and ended up being fine

I’m really not sure
My school is saying I will likely be revoked, and they’re saying that not even considering if I actually meet the cutoff GPa (I will either end up with a 2.8 or a 3.0, and getting the 3.0 will just depend on if this teacher would give me an A- for the year for a remarkably good last quarter despite an abdominal first semester and only decent 3rd quarter)

So does anyone have firsthand experience with this

If I do end up with the 2.8, just call them?

This is is the UC GPA
So even if I do very well this quarter and thy give me something like an A- for the semester
My final course grades ( the ones that matter for berkeley in the case of my school) won’t be higher than a B+, which just counts as a B (3.0)

sorry for any bad grammar, punctuation, etc
Typing on a phone

Thanks a lot!

Im pretty serious hon,uve messed up ur future…CC isnt too bad tho,u just dont get any respect for it…

Hey johnhawkes, I am in a similar situation. My first semester GPA was a 3.0 unweighted, and this semester I fear it will be the same (or just slightly higher). I emailed the admissions office and, although they did make it clear that this looked really bad and was basically a big red flag to them, it does NOT mean you are automatically going to have your admission rescinded. If you maintain a 3.0 unweighted, and have at least a C in each class, you are TECHNICALLY meeting the conditions of admission. I wouldn’t worry about emailing them unless you don’t get a 3.0, and I think you will get your 3.0! I know it’s just barely cutting it, but if it satisfies the conditions of admission, you’re good. So my final answer: wait until the end of the year, and don’t worry about submitting your SIR.

Ok thanks!
Hope u make it too

I actually already submitted the SIR
Because I need to register for FPF soon

Ur a spring admit and ur being so lackadaisal about ur grades?..spring admit already means u were lucky to get in…

Serghes, it is kind of hilarious how you are criticizing people (in multiple threads, I might add) when you cannot even find the time to type out “you” and “your.” Please refrain from further useless commentary :)

Look at yourself, you stupid John. Take a good long look. Do you really think a joker like yourself deserves to go to Berkeley, the ultimate public institution? You can’t even muster the proper grammar skills to greet the gentlemen of this forum. You disrespect us, and plague this board with your illiterate, insecure posts; who’s to say that you won’t treat us Cal students with the same level of irreverence? Exactly.

Cancel your registration now and sign up at your community college before you do any more damage. You lost your chance at glory long again.

So Aidan
Did they say anything though should you get below the 3.0

I really don’t know why everyone is treating you so badly… but no, they did not. In certain extenuating circumstances, though, I believe they are more lenient. They are always up to hearing convincing information if it is valid. If you got in in the first place, they must have seen something in you.
