I think my "PROFILE" is final now...

Hi Everyone, i guess this is another chances thread, i would like your opinions. UCLA has been and absolutley is my dream school, and i just pray for the best...but i don't know, all the averages and statistics are so disheartening

Basically, i go to a California Private School that is likely the most competitive school that I have ever seen or heard of...one guy at our school won/ 2nd placed at the Intel Science competition last year, another has the record for most APs taken...yeah insanely competitive- so much that we can't rank.

I have a crappy cumilitive GPA- but it is not representative of me because i had a lot of progress, a huge upward trend over the 4 semesters- Do any of you know if they specifically look at/note this?

GPA- 3.33, 3.83, 4.0, 4.5

SATs-

Round 1- 560 M, 660 CR, 730 W( 1950)
Round 2- 610M ( thank god its over 600), 710 CR, 740 W ( 2060)

Subject Tests- 700 in USH
680 in Biology E- the harder one

I hope my courseload helps- i took an steady flow of APS from sophmore year onwards- i will have 8 APs by the end, and 4 honors classes. Most of my APs are also centered around my social science major.

I am applying as an "undeclared- Social Science Major"

ECS-I decided in the beginning i would do ECs with quality and longevity rather than a large number...
Varsity Tennis- 9, 10, 11, 12

Volunteering- around 70 hrs at library, hospital etc...

2 Summer Internships at Investment Firm as well

Lay it on me, and thanks so much for your time...

Slight Reach.

Match if you use your Personal Statement to explain your mediocre grades and tell how you've been improving. You should take SAT II - Math Level 2, as I believe UC requres that test.

Yes, you would write about your upward trend in your third essay.

thanks so far- my statements will be very solid, writing is my strength...do you guys know if the readers look at/for upward trends? Also- Math2c is no longer a UC requirement, its now just any 2 subject tests

bumpp

anyone else? Help please

Ooh, that's news to me.

The readers definitely look for upward trends, as the 3rd question on the Personal Statement:

"Is there anything you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in this application?

is aimed towards letting you explain about any improvements you've made during the year. I got this info from a UC Berkeley admissions officer.

thanks Jinobi

keep the replies/advice coming folks, i appericiate it....i really hope i can pull this off, UCLA is magical

bummpp please

flopsy, uclari, where are you my friends?

flopsy would give you a slight reach..i put money on it...i'de say you're a match if you do a good job on essays...best of luck

Thanks Franchise, i very much appericiate it...and i hope ur right

bumpp! Is anyone else free to comment and help a poor guy out?
