Harvard, Yale, or Princeton for engineering? Are you sure?

Well when I was applying I couldn't think of many schools better than UT that would be finanical viable if I actually got accepted. Also I am majoring in engineering for several reasons but will probably end up going to law school or getting a PhD in an engineering and schools like Yale prep well for top engineering PhD programs bc they are more a research engineering school than a practicing engineering school whereas UT is both.

Texas (Austin) used to be one of the highest ranked public universities and for a while (post LBJ) was in fact "the" highest rated public university in the U.S. - even above UCB, UM and UVA. In recent times its ranking slipped mostly because of its huge size and class sizes. Don't let the magazine rankings prevent you from going to Texas though. It is an outstanding university and many of its programs e.g. Business Honors remain ranked Top 10. The oil money that has been donated over time to Texas helped it secure world class faculty and facilities. And this from an East Coast Ivy Leaguer. Go to the school that you feel passionate about. Schools only help to get you your first job anyway, they are no predictor of success. You can make it by doing well anywhere.

is there any way that we could send this thread to an admin on the website to add UT to top colleges? anybody know?
