I want to apply to Lehigh but I feel like it might be a little bit too selective...
GPA: 3ish (good public high school, nothin that special... 3rd in the state or so)
probably top 30% of my class, though we don't rank

SATs:
MAth- 800
Reading- 740
Writing- 650

Captain of the football team, been a lead role in 8 musicals... good recs and interview probably

what do you think? does anyone know of someone getting in with a GPA that low?

Lehigh publishes more statistics about its class make up in terms of SATs and overall class rank than GPA. Your SATs seem to fall right on par with accepted students, although most of the accepted students fall in the top 10% of their class. You seem to have a discrepancy between your "3ish" GPA and your SATs. Why do you think this discrepancy exists?

By all means visit and interview. Lehigh definitely puts weight on applicant interest.

Are you recruitable for football? Has the coach seen you play?

Might be a bit of a reach based on what you say about your class rank, but I don't think out of reach.

not recruitable for football, small D3a high school...
my school doesn't rank which i hope will help with the reank thing...
the discrepancy is due to a lot of things, tough class schedule and a dislike/inability to do busy work... I am also being ADD tested over the summer, and several teachers every year have told me they're positive I am ADD positive, I've just never really admitted it.
Also is there any way I could use my singing skills to hlep me get in? I know some schools let you send in tapes, etc... and I was thinking if I could impress the music staff that would help me

If your recs hint at your unwillingness to do work, Lehigh will end up being difficult to get into. They seem to like hardworkers with leadership qualities. Choose your recommendation teachers carefully.

I know someone who got in ED two admissions cycles ago, with stats similar to yours, including the "3ish" GPA. He made several visits to campus, interviewed, spent lots of time on his essays (very honest ones, not packaged ones), met with professors when he was visiting, etc. His GC couldn't believe that he got in.

The problem is that Lehigh is getting more and more competitive. You need to identify and highlight all your positive traits to override your weaknesses.
