I thought I already had one up, haha...chances?

A quick question - does Emory fully meet demonstrated need? I just kind of assumed that they did, what with their endowment/status. I recently read somewhere that a student with a 24k family income had a gap in his financial aid package, however, and that's slightly worrying. Maybe he/she misinterpreted, or maybe this situation is an anomaly? For those who have been accepted and have seen their FA packages, do you mind commenting on them? Sorry for the hassle; financial concerns are paramount in my college search, as my family has a low income.

Anyway, here are my stats for the chance thread:

Grades
Weighted - 4.12 Cumulative

Fr: 3.9, Soph: 3.9, Jr: 4.4, Sr (first semester): 4.4

Unweighted - 3.53 Cumulative

Fr: 3.4, Soph: 3.3, Jr: 3.8, Sr (first semster): 3.75-3.8

Standardized testing:
ACT - 33 composite; 33 R, 32 M, 31 S, 35 E
*I'm not sure if Brandeis superscores, but if they do, I have a 34 superscored (36R, 35E, 32E, 31S)
SAT II Subject tests - 710 Math, 780 U.S. History
AP Tests - 5 on U.S. History and Language & Composition, 4 on Microeconomics and Government

Course Rigor: I graduate with 10 AP classes. Non-AP classes were all honors; I took the most rigorous schedule possible. But everyone else probably did too, so...

ECs:
Debate - Captain
Sports - I played football, volleyball, tennis, and I wrestled, but only for two years, so nothing big here
Newspaper - Associate Sports Editor
NYLF - Went to a summer forum on Law and Forensics
Named Illinois State Scholar
Phi Alpha Theta - History Honor Society

Awards:
All of my notable awards are all from debate...
All-State Debater
3rd place at State Tourney
3rd place at Conference my junior year
1st place at Conference this year
4th place at CCFL National Qualifier

All of my other extracurriculars are very generic, and I'm hoping that debate helps me stand out. So what do you guys think? Also, I applied to Oxford College at Emory as well.

I think you will have no problem getting into Brandeis :)

…</3. Sorry, I copied and pasted my stats from one of my other chance threads!

Strong chance of acceptance. I had pretty similar stats.

@js1091: Really? Sweeeeeet! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your GPA?

You’d get into Oxford but your GPA will keep you out of Emory

I was accepted to Emory last month under EDII, and I think you have a very strong chance of getting in. Good luck!

Haha, I guess I was missing some financial information - something about 12-13 schedule C. I’ll make sure to take care of it. But the email that notified me said, "We need additional information before your award can be finalized or disbursed. Outstanding items may delay your aid award or loan disbursement. Your application will be reviewed after all required documents have been received. Your file must be complete before an accurate financial aid award can be determined and disbursed. "

Am I reading too far in to this email? Why would they finalize aid for an applicant if they were going to reject him/her? Or is the wording standard for missing FA item emails?

:O

tenchar

If I remember correctly, this is a standard email sent to all who applied for FA…

</3. Bummmmer! These two weeks are going to be sooooo slow.

I got accepted at University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Brandeis, William & Mary, and Carnegie Mellon. I’ve been rejected at Northwestern and Rice. UChicago waitlisted me. Based on my current decisions results, does it look like Emory is within reach? :S
