So, I'm currently a freshman at the university of Pittsburgh. During the HS application process, I procrastinated and ended up only applying to Penn State and Pitt. I was accepted to both, but chose Pitt primarily because it was located in a city. I thought I wanted to live in an urban environment. I'm starting to reconsider. I don't know what it is about Pitt, but it's just not what I was expecting. You know when people talk about they visited a campus or went to a college and fell in love with it? Yeah, I've felt anything but. There's three main things that have disillusioned me so far.

1) The campus feels clustered, like there's no breathing room. You might expect that in an urban campus, but walk 5 minutes in any direction outside of the campus and it becomes very small town/suburbany. I was expecting a more NYU, downtown type vibe, but it just feels narrow and congested.

2) In that similar vein, I'm a very outdoorsy kind of guy. My idea of a fun weekend is to go out backpacking in the mountains or kayaking down a gorge. This might sound kind of bipolar considering I wanted to go to school in a city, but Pittsburgh doesn't offer much in the way of nearby wilderness discovery (unless you're interested in walking across farmland)

3) [This is a big one] The party scene. Here's the thing. I like to work hard, and I like to play hard. I thought there would be a huge party scene around campus, but it's mostly grungy, basement house parties. I know many college parties are like this to begin with, but the frat's here are almost non existent, and all surrounding house parties are boring. Believe me, I've explored the party scene pretty in depth, and it is rather flat and boring compared to the standards set by such school as PSU, ASU, Syracuse...

Also, I fucking hate the weather here. Very bipolar weather patterns and it's always cold and gloomy.

In conclusion, I'm strongly considering transferring schools either spring semester or next year. I have looked at several that offer my major route and seem to satisfy what I am looking for.

-PSU
-FSU
-University of Colorado, Boulder
-Possibly schools in Arizona, or south western US region

If y'all have any suggestions or input, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here are some of the things I'm looking for in a school.

-Large (15,000>)
-Nice surrounding area (both immediately by the campus, and as mentioned, good outdoor type areas mountains)
-good business program
-Prominent party scene
-strong school spirit
-somewhere where greek life is more active (I want to pledge a frat)

Any response will be appreciated
