<p>Does anyone know the date of the official recognition? I thought there students could send notification of their status to a couple colleges in March, but nothing has arrived thus far (except a stack of college mail two feet high).</p>

<p>Those who made the cut to Commended &/or Semi are announced in April sometime. Won't know which one you made until Fall though.</p>
<p>A 225+ guarantees NMSF in the competetive states, and even less is needed for the "lower" states</p>

<p>Don't we get to send letters in September, though? That really stinks for me- the last two colleges I visited asked me to apply by 1 September (be entirely done with the process by then) for a decision by 1 October at the latest.</p>

<p>If notified as a High-Scorer, is it best to choose potential "reach" schools as the ones that NMSC will refer you to?
Also, does being referred to a certain college give you any advantage in the admissions process?

<p>massachusetts, new jersey, some others..basically the ones you'd expect...what state are you in?</p>

<p>229 is high enough for any state, it's not even a question.</p>
<p>My scores were right around the cut-off for last year (slightly over) and I was upset that I would just miss it this year when I got my scores back. Then I researched the curves and the percentiles and was so confident the last couple of months. Now 16 April is approaching and I'm dreading it! I hope all of our predictions about the cut-off lowering for commended are correct....</p>
