bump…

Hello!

While all of these universities are quite selective, I believe you have a chance at many of them if you continue to work.
Your ACT score is good! Take the SAT again so you can bring it up.
Your SAT Subject scores are good as well.
Pretty good ECs.
GPA and course load are pretty solid, have a good senior year!
Write a great essay and I believe you can be quite successful…

The Ivies and MIT are quite reaches, but the others are very feasible!

Do chance thread if you want.

I KNOW. I told myself I’d never post here, but obviously I don’t have very good self control :)

I’d say you’re definitely in at GaTech and UGA, and Duke, Northwestern, and Georgetown are all high matches. The ivies and MIT are going to be your toughest challenges, but your URM status and pretty unique EC’s are going to help you there. Just to make sure, you’re sending in your ACT right? It’ll make your chances of getting in much better.

i’d appreciate it if you chanced me back! - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1204121-chance-potential-classics-major-please-ill-super-grateful.html

Thanks! Any more?!?!?!

We already know you’re in for GTech and Georgia so I’ll ignore that.

It depends how you present yourself as a person in your essays, at this point. I think that’s what’ll be the deciding factor for some of these schools. You’re going to be happy with your results, though. I can tell you that now because you can get into at least one top 20 school.

I’ve said the same too. I feel like such a hypocrite but I might make a chance thread too just to back up my thoughts.

thank you. I would love to hear more!!

bumo to the top!!

How competitive is your high school? Your class rank seems low for any school that ranks. Do you have anything to explain your circumstances?

well I slacked off freshman year and my class rank was about 110/360 something. It wasnt until 2nd semester Junior year, after my sis got into a really good school, that i began to push myself. At the end of Soph year my rank was 69, and after a strong Jr year my rank went to 49, so there’s a significant upward trend on my transcript. I should be able to sneak into the top 10% at the end of the semester though

The kids in my class are very competetive at the top. My school has sent kids Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Emory and others I cant remember, but most kids who are smart enough dont apply because of cost and just settle for UGA (some go to GaTech as well). Whereas most of you would apply and decline the offer becasue of cost, people here in the South choose to not aapply altogether, which is so stupid IMO. Its not that they’re poor either, they just think its a waste of time

Colleges love to see improvement, and combined with your good EC’s and URM status I’d say you have good chances. You do need to bring up your SATs to be really competitive, though. If you retake it and don’t get your score up, just submit the ACT.
Also, your list is impressive, but you can’t only apply to those schools! A lot of them are gambles for anybody, and you really have to look at safeties no matter how good your chances are.

thank you! I figured I’m good enough for UGA, but I’ll probably apply to another school where I’m sure to get in with scholarships. Maybe South Carolina or Auburn. But my thinking was, there’s no reason to apply to a school lower than UGA, right? They’ve sent me a lot of invitations to Honors College info meeting so I’m sure I’ll get into the school.

Unless by safeties you meant less selective than Ivies, I’m also considering UVA, Michigan, and Notre Dame

I’d say you have a great shot at any of these schools. Not too sure about Harvard though, they do some crazy rejections because everyone has around the same stats. But you’re an URM so that’s an advantage! I’d predict you’d be accepted to the majority of these schools. I wish I could wake up and say I have the ability to apply to Harvard or Princeton!lol

UPADTE: I’ve been accepted into Tulane Honors and UGA Honors, and expecting a nod from GaTech on Friday. Finished the semester with "A"s and an 88. How do my chances look now?
