At my school if you are in the band and in Spanish you have no electives left to take other classes. Since I am in the band I didn't want to take Spanish because then I couldn't take other electives. So I decided to enroll in an online Spanish class through a local community college. I plan on taking up to Spanish 4 through this college. Will highly selective colleges hold it against me that I took Spanish online? Should I take the SAT II Spanish?

They wont hold it against you as long as it shows up somewhere on your transcript/application. If you are confident in your Spanish abilities you may want to take the Spanish SAT II, but language SATs are known for being very difficult for non native speakers.

I know it may not count as “highly selective” but I did Spanish online for two years and UChicago didn’t care early action. A friend who took it with me for one year got into a Penn dual-degree ED. As long as the see that you’re taking a language it doesn’t seem to matter - ivies are somewhat lax on the language req.

If you’re school accepts, it really shouldn’t be a problem.

I need to take high school Spanish 3 online during the summer and wanted to see if anyone has done it through BYU or National University Virtual High School. Let me know where you took online spanish class and was it hard or easy? Thanks.
