I took the MAY SAT...

but i didn't do well at all. I got a 1800 out of 2400. Im taking sat II's in june but i will be reataking my sat next year probably in october and november if possible. The thing is, on my may sat test day i was extrememly nervous and didn't get much sleep the night before and i know if i retake with some practice over the summer i can pull my score up to a 2250- 2300 So my question to you MIT students is, is my chance at getting into MIT ruined because i did poorly on my first SAT. By the way, i probably have a 3.96 gpa on a 4.0 scale and im in a decent amount of extracur. activities.

Not ruined, no, but it's a good idea to get the score up.

If you dont mine me asking, What did you get on your sat Piper

Mine aren't important, but it seems overall that admissions likes to see 700s. There are people lower who are accepted, there are people with 800s who are rejected (for other reasons) - but admissions uses SATs just to show that you can do the work, and 700s is comfy for them.

If you get a better SAT score on a subsequent retake, that is all MIT will consider -- they will not look at the lower score.
