Yeah, this thread is really silly!

it may be silly, but it is a way to gauge what type of academic peers you are studying/ will be studying with. i'm not saying it's a good gauge, but it's something.

-swarthmore
-dartmouth
-upenn
-cornell
-ucla
-ucsd
-uci

You only have around 30 people chiming in so far, that's not something, that's nothing. That's hardly a decent sample to even consider it a bad "gauge". Plus, who here do you know is actually telling the truth?

I agree that it's sort of silly but I'm wondering why you'd think people would be lying. I mean, they'd have to be crazzzzzzzzyyyyy prestige-at-the-level-of-crack addicts to do it just to inflate Cal's, or even their own, CC rep. But...I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, the thread's silly. But, come on, it's fun!

Brandeis (no scholarship)
Kenyon ($7000 scholarship)
UCD
UCSD

I'm pretty darn confident in choosing Cal ... guess I'll find out if my choice was right by spring next year! : )

No, I'm not saying anybody's lying. I'm just saying you can't use this as a "gauge" if you're not certain about who's really telling the truth. This is all silly but yeah, it's all in good fun.

I don't think it's lying or anything. I just think it's silly. Because I too have this urge to be like "hey I not only got into Cal but all of THESE other places as well!!" to make myself feel better about the fact that in the end, we have to pick just one school, and I just thought it was silly that someone felt the same thing so strongly that they actually did it.
