Why did you choose Tufts/what did you like about Tufts that other universities didn’t offer?
I don’t think a college should be defined by what colleges its students didn’t go to, but I agree with nat in that I’d like to know why you chose Tufts.
@rejectionanxiety I agree with your point. Wanted to start this back up more from a curiosity standpoint.
I chose to attend for so many reasons, but for the people above all else. The students there strike me as uniquely intelligent in a way so different from most other top universities. I think it has something to do with the types of people Tufts attracts as well as their supplements. No other college besides Tufts asked me about “what makes you happy?” as a supplemental essay. I think it was from that point on I knew the Tufts community was the one for me. Everyone is super welcoming and supportive, and the faculty put students before their own research. I’ve grown close to many professors which is something I didn’t expect but has turned out to be great. There were so many reasons, but if I took time to write them all out… I’d end up writing for hours.
@envisciguy I get why you say the people are great and welcoming and supportive, but could you elaborate on the intelligent part (especially with Harvard in the mix)?
As for me, I was accepted EDI, so I didn’t per se choose Tufts over any other school, but I applied EDI despite parental pressure to apply to other “better” (higher ranked) schools–they’ve gone through JHU, Cornell, MIT, Dartmouth,… I fell in love with Tufts mainly because of its supportive environment, not just in classes but also outside of class to pursue your interests even if you’re not great at them.
