I understand UC's don't count freshman-year grades. BUT...

What if you took Alg I in the 8th grade and Geometry in the 9th? Do those courses count in the GPA calculation?

How about if you took 2nd year high school Spanish in the 9th grade?

What is the process for this? Thanks

Ummm… I’m not SURE… But I think they JUST (ONLY) calculate based on sophomore and junior years (sometimes senior year) grades. So i’m thinkin’ your Algebra 1, whether it was taken freshman or 8th grade, won’t be considered part of your UC GPA. THat goes for spanish 2 as well. But again I’m not absolutely certain.

They won’t affect your GPA unless you took them in 10th or 11th grade.

But, they will go towards your A-G requirements and whatnot.

^ Basically true.

While they do look at those classes that you took before 10th grade to see that you meet your A-G requirements, those classes are not included in your UC GPA. (I wish they were, sort of, my freshman grades were so much better than the rest of the years… >.< —But, not like it matters for me now.)

@silvercross Too true, high school grades are a thing of the past. Enjoy.

^ I’m glad they don’t- My freshmen grades were worse and got progressively better during my sophomore year. That’s because in my sophomore year I decided what I wanted to be in life and that gave me the motivation to do well.

Even if you took AP Calculus in 9th grade, it wouldn’t count towards your UC GPA.

Only A-G courses taken during 10th and 11th grade is factored into your UC GPA.
