on my sat 2 subkect tests. The pencils were #2 and i made all my marks really dark. Should i be worried?

No you shouldn't be worried- I've taken millions of standardized tests with mechanical pencils (I'm exaggerating of course :-p )- they work really well.

I do as well. Don't worry.

thanks... i was just a little worried because i saw on the collegeboard website this morning that your not supposed to use mechanical pencils. Its probably because some of the lead is really soft and they dont want any more problems/lawsuits lol

I've always used mechanical pencils and I've been fine.

nope -- that is all my S uses and hes taken ap and SAT tests with them over the past three years. Good luck.

Yeah, I use mechanical pencils for everything, everywhere, everytime.

Is there a way to have your tests hand corrected? mine had a lot of bad eraser burns b/c we had to use regular pencils.. thus I was provided with one w/ a super bad eraser! QQ

For future reference, do You HAVE to do the AP Free-Response sections in PEN?

woww talk about overreacting lol

and yes FR is pen

and math FR's are not in pen. :)

A common American #2 pencil is equivalent to HB lead.

For future reference, use Magic Rub brand erasers or Staedtler plastic. Avoid Pink Pet or Pink Pearl or whatever it's called like the plague.

or Pentel HI-POLYMER

lol that still doesn't answer the question as to whether or not I can get a hand correction for my test..

i used to use them for my bio tests on scantrons, but it would always miss like three or four, so she told me to use pencil for the regents, eva since then i use real pencils... mechanical shouldnt matter tho...

when you get your scores back, a form will be attached allowing you to order additional services, one of which is a hand-scoring request (for a $10 fee). If the hand score finds a mistake, the fee is refunded.

I used a mechanical pencil on the May SATI test yesterday.

There's only handscoring for SAT I.

MAYBE that's the reason why I've been getting low marks in 2C!! Must be my pencils...=p

How can they even tell?
