I used to be really good at math...

I did geometry in the 8th grade and algebra II in the summer before high school.

However, in high school, I didn't take much math because of course restrictions. I had a terrible teacher for trig and calc i (10th and 11th grade) who didn't teach at all (though she gave everyone high grades). Then in senior year I didn't take a math.

Now that I'm in college (1st year), math is soooo surprisingly challenging to me. I have to work really hard and concentrate to understand the concepts. It's kind of disappointing. I hope I end up doing halfway decently on my final tomorrow.

Math is great if you can dig it!

I would recommend finding the strongest student in your class and studying with him. Math concepts can be illuminating if someone explains it to you. Once you get it, you'll go "Aha!" and it's going to be a walk in the park.

"Then in senior year I didn't take a math."

That's probably what really dug your hole. Not taking math for a while and then starting up again isn't easy...I know from experience.

No one said college would be easy, hang in there!
