I didn't apply ED - I dont have the financial means to do so.

Questions: I sent in my pt 1 application online and have not received any codes to track my application. Also, will I be contacted for interviews or will they send me the information of an interviewer nearby?

"I sent in my pt 1 application online and have not received any codes to track my application."

They send the code through email so make sure your e-mail doens't block them as spam.

The person interviewing you will contact you by email, while a rare case few, by phone.

"I didn't apply ED - I dont have the financial means to do so."
Haha, that's not an excuse, you can always argue that you didn't get "adequate" fin-aid for entrance...

you certainly picked a good day to visit. Columbia always look more grand on sunny and windy days. Glad you didn't come yesterday, or you'd have left with quite a sour impression.

I went on a day that it was snowing...and still loved it...maybe I'm just obsessed too. Heyguys...lots of you don't know me though...I'm sam... i applied ED also...but I haven't been posting until...just now.

And my email doesn't block any spam. ever. Should I call?

Actually, I saw columbia at dusk and after dark. The space is just incredible for an inner-city college. I think the lights of the city in the background really made it for me :)

welcome insntynonchalan! and that's good that you like it so much, pebbles. hopefully you get in RD-- good luck

oh yeah, about the code to track: mine didn't come for about 2 weeks after i submitted my part 1. I would say just wait for it, it will come eventually

They do interviews for RD people after they are done with ED usually. Don't worry if you haven't been contacted yet. Also, I've been told that the admissions office hates to hear anything about interviews, so if you would call anyone, find the number of the alumni coordinator in your area. I wouldn't worry about if you haven't have your interview yet, just wait it out.

it definately is a good thing though, as i've heard from the adcom from my area, to get your app in early for the RD round, because that puts you at the top of the list to get an interview :)

I'm probably going to hold off with the part 2 submission. I like to review things no less than a dozen times before submission. Plus I'm always worried something's going to come up and I'm going to need to change some part of the application =

"And then you must go to a state school. It's in their guidelines for ED."

pebbles, where did you exactly see that statement, because I did a lot of research on "blacklist"ing/ED-escaping stuff and I never noticed that about Columbia, please point it out for me because it would really be helpful to me.

"btw, since columbia gives need-based aid, the odds that its not enough are slim, and the odds of your arguing its not enough are even slimmer."

See, pebbles, that's what I mean, but ED or RD, it's still your choice.

There are definitely financial circumstances with my family that most people would not be able to understand. They also do not show up on tax forms and income reports. When I say that I can't afford to go Early Decision, I really mean it.
