I figured I would share my experience with you.

It was gorgeous! The weather was perfect for a tour/visit. First we [I came with a classmate] ate at the Statler Hotel, and the restaurant was far more professional than I was expecting. I felt spoiled. We were given one on one time with a professor in the department we are going into. He was easygoing, helpful, and even gave us a tour of the engineering quad. All of the buildings were in great shape and aesthetically pleasing. Duffield Hall had a lot of engineering students just sitting around and studying. Completely different ambiance than my current school, and we were very impressed.

We then took a walking campus tour, which ended up being more informal than usual because only four students went. Uris Library was busy yet quiet. The AD White room was quite picturesque and impressive. The campus simultaneously feels very large yet friendly and personal (we didn't encounter one person that wasn't easygoing and fun to talk with), and the atmosphere was just amazing. My classmate had this silly grin on his face and was giggling the whole way out of glee. He arrived expecting that he would not like it, but came away willing to pay more than another school would cost him to go there.

Since we are transfer students, we wandered onto West Campus where construction was going on for the new hall(s). In search of a bathroom we wandered into one of the current halls and I asked one of the students at the front desk if we could see one of the dorm rooms. One of them instantly said "no problem" and showed us around his suite. It had a common room, 3 singles, a double, and a private bathroom. The whole suite was carpeted (other than the bathroom, haha) and the furniture was new. All in all, does not seem like a bad place to live! He said it was usually quiet, and the walls seemed fairly thick. [A contrast from my current college, where some students put boom boxes in their windows to broadcast within a quarter mile.]

Well, I hope read this was fun! Haha. It sounds like an advertisement. I did not take any pictures, but I found a student's blog with some nice photos of campus. Flickr: crazyjoe579's Photostream

what dorm youre in doesnt really matter. its who you live with...which is something to be concerned about...but nothing you can do about that now. best thing to do is just enjoy the summer and try not to think too much about the details.

where do transfer students live anyway? it says online most of them are put in west campus housing system. but west campus gets filled up so fast during housing selections, how do they have more rooms for transfers?!

But it will be senior week, so there may be some activity on campus. Don't expect the libraries or the different sandwich shops to be bustling though.

Oh, well the fact that campus will be quiet is a good thing. It's not me that needs convincing. It's my parents. They need to co-sign my 40k loan.

My dad has no faith in me being away from home. He thinks I'll break down after a few weeks in Ithaca. I know I won't but he can be a tough person to persuade.
