<p>Reading magazines, good books would be far better that writing this way. Do extensive research on what colleges look for in students. And No international student got into harvard merely because of good english. </p>

<p>I would also recommend watching as many TV shows as possible in English. If you can sound natural when speaking, you will much better be able to tell when your writing is unnatural. Start with children’s shows (such as Blues Clues, Pokemon, etc.) and move on to more difficult ones (such as NCIS, History Channel things, etc.)</p>

Read better literature, the ones you listed are fine too.
Rather than writing your journal on this thread, write one essay each day, and ask your teachers to check them. Write lots and lots of essays. At least one a day.<br>
