I wanna go to uci comp sci or software

hey so i applied to Comp Sci as first choice to all UCS except merced, here are the results:

STATS:

UC GPA: 4.08

unweighted: 3.76

high school 10-12 weighted: 4.4

SAT: 1500, 800 math, 700 english

ECs and Essays: better than average, pretty good essays and insight questions

RESULTS:

UCSC: accepted in february comp sci

UCR: accepted beginning march comp sci

UCSD: accepted undeclared

UCSB: rejected

UCD: waitlisted

please tell me based on trends patterns, WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR UCI???

i was very irvine driven in my application, i mentioned the city and my neighborhood and I live in irvine i just want to go to irvine gaaaa

I KNOW PPL JUST SCROLL BY THESE THINGS BUT PLZ HELP I JUST WANNA STAY HOME

2019 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCI: 35%

2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range:
UCI: 4.13 (4.00-4.25)

2019 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT totals:
UCI: 1250-1510

Based on your stats, you look competitive but UC admissions is just more than stats and the rest of your application is subjective so there is no way to quantify your chances as seen by your results.

All you can do at this point is hope for the best and reevaluate once you have all results. UCR and UCSC are very good options and CS is a marketable major so where you go for Undergrad will not hinder your job opportunities.

Best of luck.

normally, UCI, UCD and UCSB have pretty comparable thresholds. So, your Davis wait-list and SB rejection would suggest UCI is somewhat unlikely. That said, each campus evaluates aps independently and there’s some subjectivity to the process so, you won’t really know until they get back to you.

In the interim, you should open your mind to the other colleges that have accepted you. UCSC in particular has an outstanding CS program and its grads are heavily recruited by tech companies over the hill in Silicon Valley.

@NCalRent Ours is accepted at Davis, denied at Santa Barbara, and my daughter is dying to go to Irvine, so we have no idea what’s going to happen.

what about my alternate major of software engineering

can I ask for ur stats like GPA and SAT, etc

software engineering and cs are both very competitive – the chances of SE are marginally higher than CS but gpa and SAT are a tad low for such competitive majors.

I’ve been accepted to Irvine, Santa Barbara, and SD for CS – Irvine early notification scholarship, but still got waitlisted at Davis. I wouldn’t worry too much about ur past results. after all, each UC is unpredictable and has their own metrics. good luck!!!

1500 is a low SAT for comp sci???

SAT is just on par for Comp Sc.
But UC GPA: 4.08 and unweighted: 3.76 are below the range.

You should be lucky to get into UCI.

@TonyStark748159

actually I did get into UCI, and UCSD - not luck, merit…

have u ever considered that many people beef up their unweighted GPA by taking less hard classes - u forget they consider rigor…

how many people have u seen with

4.3 WGPA, 4.0 Unweighted

thats trash in reality because if u have all A’s, and take hard classes, u should have 4.6 WGPA

R.I.P. Iron Man

Congratulations on getting in!

@pofppl
Congratulations on getting into UCI and UCSD.
What major did you get into both universities?
