any insight would be appreciated, thanks

Here's some insight:

Post in the chances thread.

It's hard to evaluate since you didn't give ECs or SAT scores, but it's a match based on your GPA.

Aim for 2100+ on the SAT.

you took calc sophomore year? Damn!

fatboy13:

UCLA: Match

soph
ap euro: A/A
ap calc: A/A
eng 2 honors: A/A
spanish 2 honors: A/B
weight training: A/A
chem honors: A/A

Absolutely not. ABSOLUTELY NOT! FAIL.

...disgusting!

AHAHAHAHAHA! Oh really? See the red, bolded characters above. I don't know what school you go to but "straight A's" with a B?

this is the thread you're going to want to look at

Wow @ talking Calc during sophomore year.

Some people on this website are just plain mean.

Are you Asian?

I think so flopsy, qipao is soooooooooooo mean. Just ignore him fatboy and try your best in the SAT part, I think your chance is far above 85%

Wow @ talking Calc during sophomore year.

big deal, i talked it in Jr high

I think it is a big deal. I didn't know anyone that took Calc during their second year of high school.

Are you in-state?

I knew 1 person who finished her second semester of Calculus when she was in Junior, but still, not sophomore T_T

I did BC 10th grade, and so did a few other at my HS. A bunch of us then went up to a local university and took courses there like Multi-variable and Linear Algebra. This quarter (freshman) I'm taking 115AH and there are about 4 or 5 other freshmen in the class (total size around 35), so taking BC early can't be that rare.

I know someone that took Calc BC as a freshman, and they had the maturity of a 5 year old.

hey guys, thanks for all the responses and yes i am in state
my calc class was mostly sophomores so i guess its just our school
and qipao i meant i had straight a's RIGHT now not last year

so i guess just get around a 2200 on sat and i'm good for ucla?

pretty common in my area for people to take BC calc in sophomore year. one kid in our year from blair high school (john kim) took the AP calc test in seventh grade and scored a 5. then he took college math courses in 8th grade

Chill out folks... Calc is really no big deal in sophomore year. Especially if its CalcAB. BC is a little harder, but nothing you need to be a junior for (being a junior doesn't give you any superpowers, or anything).
People in a lot of other countries take calculus even earlier than this.

OP: You're on the right track. Keep up that GPA, do well on the SATs (2100+), and get some good ECs. Try to do something unique (ie: NOT NHS or CSF or piano or tennis... like 90% of the school probably had this on their app).
