I wanna kno what it takes to get into UMDCollegePark...

I'm a high school junior that lives in VA and I was wondering if I have a chance at getting in. I'll have a 3.6 cumulative GPA by the end of this year, and hopefully a 3.7 when I graduate.
I hadn't taken any AP or honors classes in 9th grade cuz they didnt have it at my old high school and I didnt take any in 10th. I took AP US history this year and Honors English, and next yr I'll be taking about 4 AP & honors classes together.
I took the SAT 1 time so far and got a 510 in Math, 570 Critical Reading, and 610 on the new Writing section (multiple choice 61 essay 8). Total 1690
I might take a SAT subject test next year too, in English or something.

So tell me what YOU got on ur SAT, ur final GPA, and any other things that would help me get in, thanx!

I don't think it is amazingly hard, but it's somewhat difficult. I think you can get in.

i had a 660 math, 670 verbal and 770 writing..i also took sat ii's, but i really don't know if umd needs/looks at them. my final gpa was a 101 point something but our school does gpa's on a 100 scale. i got into honors, though, so if u just wanted to get into the university itself, i'm not quite sure exactly "how low you can go" regarding SATs/GPA.

Um Sarpash I think you can get in but definitely raise that SAT score. Mine was about the same as yorus first time I took it but the second time I rasied it to 630 V, 640 M, 670 W... and I'm sure that helped me. So try to raise your Math + Verbal score to like 1200, 1250, maybe 1300 range... your GPA and course load is about the same, if not better than mine. I was in mostly regular classes, a few honrs, and one GT and one AP all four years. So you should be okay.

Just write a decent essay and get good recommendations. Apply early action, too.

You're SAT is pretty bad, the 25-75% range is 1180-1350, and, as you can see, you'd be well into the bottom 25%.

I wouldn't bet on it unless you can raise that SAT by 150+ points.

Are you a URM?

yeah, a 1080 will probably put you in spring semester or get denied. Really raise that up a few points, breaking 1100 is something you should be able to do. JUst try hard to do better because your grades are in line.

Like everyone else has said you should get in as long as you raise your SAT score. But you really don't need to raise it that much, I had a 17something (I think I'm the only person who doesn't have their score memorized) and got in just fine. I have a 4.0 weighted with all honors throughout high school and 2 APs this year.

So basically as long as you don't majorly slack off you'll be fine.
