Basically this school is a perfect match, and I don’t know what I’d do with myself if I don’t get in. Does anyone have suggestions on anything I can do before November 1st that would possibly help me get in? What do you think my chances are?

I would suggest having other schools as your “perfect matches” because if you do not get in, you will be attending a school you don’t want to be at.

Ignore above. Probably someone who is in high school or was rejected.

I get that, I have other schools on my list that are more in my range, Penn is just a clear top choice for me, I’m just wondering my chances.

I’m not a chancer…you have as good a chance as anyone. Just make sure you have some safety & backup schools as the Ivys are difficult to get into. Good luck.

How many APs does your school offer?

I’m not sure the exact number…but the only ones that were available for my schedule that I didn’t take were the AP histories (US, Gov, Euro…) I was already taking 2 APs junior and senior year and I knew I could do better in the two I was taking if I wasn’t taking a third…
Oh and I didn’t take AP Chem either because I wanted all 3 sciences in so I’m taking honors physics senior year instead of an AP science.

I think you have a pretty good chance; however, a large portion of your ECs are music/drama/performance related… not about animals or biology. Though, it’s great you did the summer courses. Also, I know that Penn really wants students that take the hardest classes. 2 APs junior year (if more are offered) isn’t the most competitive. (I’m not trying to be harsh! This is just from what I’ve read on this website and on Penn’s)

Are you sure you want a career as a Vet or in Biology? Is it really a PERFECT match? You show SO much passion for the fine arts. Do YOU actually want a career in science or is it what your parents want because Show Business is tough to make a living in? Your resume and major choice don’t match up too well, but if you can prove your honest sincerity in your essays then I’d say you have a better chance. Good Luck!! :)

Yeah I know, maybe I should’ve taken an AP history, but it’s too late now. I just didn’t think I’d do well in any of them if I were juggling three. :/

I promise you I’ve always wanted to be a vet. I’ve always been good at music too and it’s something I’ll pursue as a hobby still in college and in life, but I know I want to go to vet school, that’s been my dream since Kindergarden! Me. Not my parents.

My main essay is actually about music though… my college counselor thinks that all my music experience is different from the usual applications a school like UPenn gets, especially from a Bio major, and that I should try to work music into my applications and essays as much as possible to stand out more and be someone…diverse, I guess.

With acceptance rates so low, it is really hard to tell.

I would try and raise my ACT score to a 33 or 34.

I’m not able to take the ACT again because of MSM on Saturdays. BUT speaking of ACTs, I have another question.

UPenn’s website says they superscore and that they like to see improvement.
The second time I took the ACT, my composite went down 2 points, but I went up in Math (28 to 29) and Writing (from an 8 to a 10). So superscored, I think that makes overall a 32, taking the highest from each test?
But they say they like improvement, so would they look negatively on the lower composite? It it worth sending the second test for the slightly higher superscore?
