<p>Well in Class XI I have an avg of 65% till now darn monthly tests but my final exams are not over yet, they are in march. And I guess just final exam scores matter as they have max marks as 100 and they cover the whole curriculum.</p>

<p>I have an avg of 2100 on practice SAT tests, so that should give u some idea.</p>

<p>And one more thing, in our school we have these 40 marks tests every alternate months. I kinda suck on that, they set those really tough. I have 65% on them and still I have rank of top 10%. But the final exams covering the whole syllabus and are of 100 marks. i think I am going to score really well on them(they are in march) so should I send in an explanation that those were really tough or do they just look how i end the year?</p>

<p>I'm not an expert by any means, but I believe colleges only look at the final year grades for all classes, except grade 12 in which you can only send the mid-year grades. You seem very well qualified for WPI and I predict that you will get in with at least some merit scholarship money. I personally got in with $7000 a year in merit with a B+ average and 2040 SAT.</p>

<p>By the way, are you an international student?</p>

<p>Your school's difficulty will of course come into account. Though I don't quite get your school's grading policy...because 63% seems to still be a B and 83% still an A. The schools that I am familiar with usually have A's as 90-100, B's as 80-90, C's as 70-80, D's as 60-70 and F's as below 60. But I'm sure your school will explain that when it submits your transcript. But from looking at your SAT's and class rank, I'm sure those are good grades, nonetheless.</p>

<p>huanlai, well I am an international student from India. Marking being a bit harsh here 63 is a B. The passing marks here are 33 so 33 is a F here. As it is 63 is for hindi i dont think anyone would care.</p>

<p>As for grade 11 i have really worked very hard and hope to get As even by american standards. And I hope to get the aid in which, the family needs to contribute $12000 and rest by WPI :)</p>

<p>Your ECs look great. If you keep up your top 1% class rank and do well in SAT (aim for 2200+), I think you have a decent chance at WPI (w/ $$$$). If you are into engineering, consider apply to other private StevenTech, IIT (Illinois!), and engineering schools that give aids to intl students.</p>

<p>Don't worry about it too much, I'm pretty sure you will get in, though I'm not very familiar with WPI's international student policy.</p>
