and with hard work i think im more than capable of getting there.
i just dont know whats the best strategy to take to get there!
i have an account on collegeboard, but taking those tests is time consuming and i tend to repeat the problems i have missed.
is it worth it getting a tutor, or will I just be throwing money away?

...of course they are time consuming, it's a 4 hour test. How else will you practice if you don't take tests. What are you scoring right now? Most people I know self-studied to get a score of 2300+. It may be worth it to get a tutor, just depends on what you are scoring right now and how much money you have to spend. But if your motivated, you can easily self-study.

A tutor is unnecessary. We all have our own strategies. I know what works for me and what doesn't. You have to be willing to offer that commitment in order to improve. Start to practice, change your methods accordingly, and practice some more.

If you NEED someone to push you and lead you into the material than get a tutor to help you. If you can be self motivated and stuff than you shud be fine self studying.

I got a perfect score on the SAT; I used a tutor for about a month but I think I could have prepared on my own. Tutors are good for schedules and study techniques but after a while you realize that most of your time with them is a waste in terms of learning experience and is moreso a confidence booster. If you're motivated, you can do it yourself. If you see yourself at a wall that you can't get past though, I'd recommend a tutor.

^If you can't take someone expressing their opinion, gtfo. Grow up. People have differing opinions. Gryffon was trying to give helpful advice, and all you do is cry about how he is talking you out of your goals?

Gryffon makes a very good point. Most people don't get 2400s, and there's no point wasting your time trying to get that extra 40 points when you could be spending that time beefing up your ECs. Anything is possible, but a 98 percentile means absolutely nothing.

You do not know that, though . We dont know anything about him. Just because its unlikely that a person who takes the sats isnt likely to get a 2400 doesnt mean it is unlikely for HIM SPECIFICALLY to get a 2400. The stat you gave doesn't mean anything. And the fact that CC is full of really high scorers (compared to the rest of those who take the test), it is very likely that a few of those 294 ppl who score 2400 are on CC.
TO xcxzsky: If you are getting only 0-2 wrong consistently on all the Blue book tests, i say you have a chance. If not, you would have to get really lucky. I dont think there is really a "strategy." Once you are in the 2350+ range, i think you just have to get lucky to get a 2400. Or, you can be one of those talented few who consistently get 2400's, but you cant really work for that so idk.

EDIT: im only being so optimistic about perfect scores because i want a perfect score myself this saturday, xD. Ill be happy w/ >2300 though, XP

uh it DOES mean something, way to provoke a college confidential battle...
grow up and get out, this is my post.

and you cant deny a 98% means anything just because you didnt like a couple of words I wrote in a post.
LMAO, mabey i wont get a PERFECT but as long as im shooting in that range I wont be disappointed with my score.

mabey my real question was the value of a tutor, sense that's all i ASKED FOR ANY OF YOUR OPINIONS FOR!

if you cant answer my question DO NOT bother posting.

now this is the time where immature and pathetic bloggers who have nearly 700-2000 posts and get agitated over a highly motivated student need to leave.

& for those that did answer in regards to the tutor, thanks I will use your advice when making my decision.

WOW I'm posting and not answering your question... lalalallalalala

are you going to cry some more? Or do you just want attention? Have you ever thought of doing a forum search? Maybe you question has already been answered 100s of times?

If you keep flaming people for expressing their opinions, you really need to GTFO the internet. Wait a couple of years, you can come back on here once you're in high school. You don't need to be worrying about the SAT as a 7th grader.
