So I got a 4 on AP CS A, 5 on English Lang, and 4 on AP Spanish...now I'm gonna be a junior, and I'm taking Calc AB, CS AB, English Lit, and US Gov. However, I need 8 to get that National Scholar (I don't think a 4+ would be a problem on those), so what would be the best AP course for me to do a little be of self study and get a 4?

Do Comparative Government since you're already doing US Gov. Comp Gov is an easy self study if you buy and read Ethel Woods study guide. It got me a 5 and I didn't start studying until 2 weeks before the test. I read it three times though =]

I'd try AP Stat if I were you. I never took the test myself, but I heard from friends and my sister that it was a pretty easy exam and all you need to do is study a review book.

it was a pretty easy exam and all you need to do is study a review book.

You could probably honestly do that with any AP if you read the prep book long enough (excluding languages and music theory).

Stats really requires a couple weeks, maybe, of studying a couple hours a day and you can easily do well on the exam (though your actual knowledge of statistics won't be that great).

Why do you want the National AP Scholar award? It doesn't mean anything.

^ Agreed. (10char)

Honestly I've decided that it's kind of pointless. Most amazing schools either a) don't accept AP credit or b) cap credit at a small amount, and they rarely give advanced standing.

I would say do something you're interested in. developing yourself and becoming serious about something like a hobby or a leadership position, something to that extent that you could write about in your essay, I think that would give you a lot more edge than a few AP tests and an award.

If you insist though, Stats cuz your a math guy, or Comp. gov. human geo i hear is cake, so is psychology, but those are more humanities/ social sciences type I think, and you seem to be more inclined to math and computer science.

maybe ap biology, if ur interested in how things work. its not very in depth, some things are common sense. the range for at least a 4 is moderately lenient:)

its doable in one semester
