I want to attend, but am I possible candidate?

I want to attend because its close and its cheap, plus its engineering program is beast.

10th: 3.8~ (4.05 weighted)

Excellent teacher and counselor recommendations

Lots of service Hours.

Im the president of a company my father and I started that received a lot of recognition. I cant brag too much here, but I got the Presidetnt’s award for service Im pretty sure, along with several awards and certificates from directors from USAID and the Malawian government. It’s a lot, plus my dad’s a missionary.

Tutoring in Math for 100 hours.

Did 3 years of art and I have a decent portfolio to go with my major.

Each major is impacted in its own way, so it would be helpful if you included what major you plan on applying for. Cal Poly only looks at Math and English for ACT/SAT. President of a company, and all your awards/achievements do not really play a part in the Cal Poly admission process. For ECs they ask you if you had a job and was it work related, and they also ask how many hours of extra activities outside of school per week. Their GPA is 9-11 grade. It looks like you have a pretty good chance.

How can you have a GPA for 12th unless you have graduated or is this projected? Plug your grades into the CSU mentor GPA calculator and include 9-11th with up to 8 extra points for 8 semesters of Honors/AP/IB classes and you get your CP CSU GPA. EC’s only account for about 10% in your application. Cal poly SLO uses the MCA score to determine admissions so here is a link to help you calculate. Depending upon your major, a MCA score of 4500+ is desirable but some engineering majors may require 4800+.

thanks @Gumbymom I appreciate the links. And this is my current gpa, which will probably remain until I graduate.

and thanks @Reef2Reefuser I’m going as a civil/electrical engineer, havent really decided but good, my english and math are pretty good.

Do they superscore? the website doesnt say but I guess they don’t.

Thanks!!

They use the highest math and english scores from the ACT or SAT. If your ACT math is the best, but your SAT English is better than the ACT english, they will take your ACT math score and your SAT english score and use them.

AKA the SUPER Superscore!

@Reef2Reefuser wow! mine is great then!! Wait, for ACT is it the reading or the english? or the ela subscore

And is a 4700-4800 good? And when I say good, I mean a 50% or better chance of getting in?

I am pretty sure it is English on the ACT. I would say you have better than a 50% chance of getting in.

Thank you! It also helps that they do not require an essay hahaha.

Even though I dont have STEM extracurriculars, I hope I ll get in, it looks like a perfect school for me

whats SAT english? the reading you mean? @Reef2Reefuser

yeah, the CR.

@andrewmcdona Umm, I am honestly not to sure. I think it is writing not cr. Sorry for the wrong info, I am used to the ACT not the SAT.

It’s math and critical reading. Writing is not used.
