I want to be a Dukie

I'm a Junior at a large low-performing high school in Tri-State Area (I'm middle class and white)

SAT: 2300+ (based of psat)
SATII: 730, 760, 760, one more that is not so stellar (does it count, considering they ask for 3?)
Rank: top 10 students of ~512
APs: 5/4/4/5

ECs:Prez of Investment Club, Prez of Student Gov, Prez of NHS, Mock Trial Capt, science research at nyu, volunteering, internship w/ politician, finance internship in manhattan, Varsity Tennis (not that great though)

Any chances? Advice? What should I work on?
Be honest.. Am I in the running?
I'm looking to major in statistics or econ
Thanks, in advance!!!

Also, would it make sense to apply ED, even if I can't pay the full tuition price? (I have 1 sister in college and my parents earn about 100k annually) Would this be taking a risk?

dude, there is a chances thread

if you apply ED and absolutely can't agree with them on financial aid, then i think they will release you from the binding agreement because they don't want someone making a huge fuss about it in public.

BingCold: Yes, and I only created individual chance threads because I wasn't receiving responses on the chances section.

Is Duke known for being generous with FA?

You have a good chance, but I'd apply nice and early. had similar ecs and scores when I applied. Did you receive any awards in those activities?

I've won very few awards, but none of them are too major (i.e. some leadership awards)

bump it up.. I do not think I can apply early due to financial concerns.

bump it up...

um... i wouldn't go w/PSAT scores to base SAT scores. You definitely have a shot. do u take honors/ap classes?

I believe Duke asks for 2 SAT II's, not 3.

very good.. yep, i'll probably graduate with 8 or 9, but my scores on them aren't stellar

why in the world would you take 8 or 9 SAT IIs?

It think he/she means AP classes.

^^^
correct

ye Duke needs only 2 SAtII's as does Columbia. Harvard n Princeton however require 3...
