Purdue has had many astronauts for two main reasons. It's one of the best engineering schools in the country/world and they have always had a close relationship with the Military. When others threw them off campus, Purdue held close ties and that wasn't forgotten.

I hope you have close to 20/20 vision, because anyone wearing contacts or eyeglasses is automatically disqualified from becoming an astronaut. And no LASIK allowed.

MIT has had many grads go into space. Check into it.

I was a little afraid of the physical requirements- I wear glasses to read and drive. Hopefully my eyesight does not deteriorate any more.
I'm looking mostly into schools that I can get into- I don't want to rely on top-tier colleges that will probably not accept me. However, I have looked into some of the programs that my reach schools offer, and it is definitely very appealing.

If you need glasses to drive, the probability of you becoming an astronaut is probably zero. Everyone says that to be a jet pilot you must have perfect vision. All the more so for an astronaut. You can still work at NASA and such, but you would not go up to space.
