Hamilton offers merit aid, I'm pretty sure. It doesn't exactly have the reputation of being diverse, though, if that's important to you.

Actually, Hamilton is ending its merit scholarship program, beginning with the class of 2012 (in other words, kids applying this year). Here's what they had to say about this decision: Hamilton College - Alumni Review - Spring 2007 - College to Focus on Need-based Aid

aw man... well that sucks..

what about univ of michigan? and also, i wanted to ask about fordham once again, the bronx? dad doesnt want to send me there at all, but i might have a chance at their presidential scholarship.. any other schools like fordham that offer a lot of money and are in the NE?

thanks everybody.. almost 1000 views.. that def. made me smile

Keshav,
You really should focus on what schools are good fit for you, not necessarily solely on which will give you the most money. You may end up at a school with a lot of merit aid and a very unhappy camper.

Try to find a happy medium. Talk to your parents realistically about finances.

wait. what stats do we know?

"my sat's are 1490/2230, gpa is 3.9/4.2
i have the leadership, etc. "

oh yeah, I'd totally call you a shoe-in for Columbia....right...

come on, guys. have we gotten to that level?

Holy Cross is a very good LAC and is a smaller version of Georgetown. HC despite its name is very secular as is the case at most top Jesuit schools. HC has nice location 1 hour from Boston.

indeed mr. ilikedice,

i didnt want to have an entire chance thread atmosphere going on, but if thats not enough, than by all means, here we go:

SAT - 740CR/750 MATH/ 740 Writing
GPA - 3.9/4.2
AP classes - physics c, european history, english iv, spanish iv, calculus bc, statistics ap.
AP tests - English Language (score 5)

President Peer Assistance Team, Vice President Asian Pacific Club, Youth Board Member of Indian Association of New Orleans, Treasurer of Senior Student Council, and dedication to all of those including Mu Alpha Theta

Essay topic - my work experience at Tulane university center for gene therapy with chick embryos, and the other one is about my work at camp challenge as a counselor for kids with cancer.

Location - Katrina city (New Orleans), great public school, known by many colleges
Ethnicity - Indian
Parents income - around 150 combined

i think that's kind of comprehensive

hope that helps

I'm no financial aid expert, but I thought that a number of the colleges that have been suggested to you so far do not, in fact, give merit aid, only need-based aid.

But I could be wrong.

Some of the ones suggested do give merit aid. HOWEVER, what I have been trying to point out is that blindly asking for a list of any school that will give the OP money is a bad plan.
The OP should be looking for a school that is a good fit in every way, including financial.

indeed, thank you
