I want to double major in art & a science before applying to med school...

Hello. :) I am a sophomore in high school, and I know that it's sort of early, but I want to make sure I plan well. I have a good list of schools and back-up schools planned out already, which I'll show you in a moment. My current cumulative GPA is of three semesters, two from freshmen year and one from this year, and it's a 3.55. I know this is low (relatively). I had gotten a 3.65 and a 3.7 in my freshman year, however my father struggled with alcoholism the first semester of this year and it my GPA dropped to a 3.3 then because of stress. However, everything is far better now and I'm getting my usual As and A-s again - my GPA should be up quite a bit higher when I apply to colleges, as I should be getting around a 3.7 for the remainder of my time in high school.

Anyway, I really want to double major. I love art, but I cannot have a career in it; it doesn't pay well and my mother is spending tons of money to send me an expensive school (I go to a very prestigious private school) to get me a good education. I actually want to be a radiologist, therefore requiring me to go to medical school. Because of this, I want to do both a science major and an art major (probably illustration, painting, or medical illustration) at whichever college I go to. Or perhaps, if it is relayed to me that this would be far too difficult (I have no idea right now), I can minor in art. Do you think a double major is possible for me? Is this a good option, or would you suggest something else?

Thank you VERY much.

My college list:
Amherst C
Boston U
Brown U
Columbia U
Cooper Union
Cornell U
Duke U
George Washington U
Johns Hopkins U
New York U
Northeastern U MA (backup)
Stanford U
Swarthmore C
Tufts U (backup)
U Pennsylvania

Keep in mind that you don’t have to major in a science to go to med school; you only need to have the required classes; bio, chem, etc.

It’s perfectly possible to major in art while taking the med school classes.

However, that leaves you in a less-employable position if you decided against med school.

At this point you’re so far out it’s silly to plan everything out. Just look into schools that have both good science departments and good art departments, don’t focus on the specifics.
