I want to go into either biochemistry or molecular biology, will I need to take Calculus?

I am currently a year ahead in math (Algebra 2/ Trig), and we will choose our schedules for next year soon. Since I want to go into some sort of biology, will Calculus be necessary? I am not the best at Algebra 2, about a 75, which lowers my average quite a bit.I am afraid I will struggle in Pre Calculus next year and that it will lower my average and I also fear that Senior year I won’t even pass the AP Calculus exam (My school does not have regular Calculus, only AP). The other option for me to go would be a senior math class in 11th grade and AP Statistics senior year. Will colleges turn me down for not having Calculus? If I don’t have calculus and they accept me, will I struggle?

The most selective colleges will expect you to take some type of Calculus course. The majority of the colleges would like to see at least Pre-calc on your transcript.
Depending upon which colleges you apply, you will not be turned down for not having Calculus.
If you plan to go into Biochem or Molecular, you will probably need to take at the minimum in college: Calc1 and 2.

Having a Calculus background will definitely help you in your college courses which are presented at a faster pace. My older son was not great at Math either, but he did make it through AP Calculus AB with the help of a tutor in HS. He still struggled with the course in college but ultimately passed again with help.
