I want to go to Cornell ED - Do I have a chance?

Hello -

I am also the most advanced math student as I am doing a self study course for Calculus BC - I am the only one in the class. My school does not report class rank but if I had to guess I'd be in the top 25 to 20 out of 190 students. I am applying to both the College of Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences.

Any guidance would be helpful. Cornell is my top choice and I'm really hoping to get in. I am also planning on retaking my ACTs to hopefully get a higher composite.

When you say you’re applying to BOTH engineering and A&S, is engineering your primary choice?
Anyway, if engineering is your primary choice then I’d say you have a pretty solid chance of getting in. The only things on the weak side are you scores on reading and writing of the SAT, but they won’t be as important if you’re applying to be an engineer. If A&S is your primary choice, then I’d try to get those scores up.
Naturally, applying ED helps your chances too. Good luck!

Thank you! The College of Engineering is my first choice with the College of Arts and Sciences as my secondary choice. I’m hoping to submit my ACT’s mainly as they are better than my SATs - I think.

Is there anything else I should work on before I apply to Cornell to boost my resume within reason? I would have done an engineering internship however there aren’t any in the area especially with the economy the way it is no one needs extra people - at least in my area.

Small bump - Any other opinions as to my chances?

While I would say your SAT score is relatively low for College of Engineering, your ECs definitely make up for it. I think you have a decent shot if you write good essays.

Chance me back por favor? : )
