I want to save money using AP scores

Come on man!
My Math score falls in 50th percentile for Purdue!

So what? Your CR and Writing scores don’t even fall in the 25th percentile! No university admits a student based off one section of the SAT.
CaliCash told you not to expect anything, it doesn’t mean you won’t get accepted.

You are an international student. The standards are much higher.

You asked for an opinion and opinions were given. Don’t get bent out of shape because you do not like the content of said opinions.

Nobody here is an admissions officer; if you want a definitive answer, apply and see what happens. Good luck.

You all CC people tend to discourage international people. I have inferred that. Even Johns Hopkins University said the same in one blog.I don’t understand why you don’t like international students. Maybe, because we are smarter. @DarkEclipse CaliCash skieurope

@DarkEclipse I am an international student, moreover, I am from India.

FYI, just so you know, every whiny post you’re making here is being collected for a meme (made by yours truly). Since you seem so intent on ignoring everything that’s being said, you can leave. You can turn a blind eye to these posts.

I have inferred that you’re unreasonable, whiny, and uninteresting. And in case you can’t infer what I meant, it means you’re just fishing for compliments. Why don’t you apply to the universities, and see the decisions yourself? If they accept you, great! If they don’t, well, can’t say we told you to expect anything.

In any case, you’re not smart. You’re not even semi-smart. If you were “smart” in any context, then you would’ve figured all of this out by yourself.

Um, no. It’s because the primary teaching responsibility of American universities is to educate American students.

@Ryanite Your SAT R and W scores are still below the 25%ile for Purdue, and you are expected to be proficient, as these are English-medium universities. Listen to Calicash’s comments.

You shouldn’t expect us to sugarcoat everything for you either. We’re here to give you advice, not say “everything will be fine despite x, y, and z.” That said, the only way to know for sure is to apply.

All students(including immigrants) are welcome in American universities.

I think the reason that some CC members don’t really like international applicants because some of them don’t know how applications work here in America.

Anyway, besides your SAT score, what else have you done both in and out of school? How are your extracurriculars for example?

Just curious as to how much money you think two AP tests will save you? At the most you would get 6 credits for those two AP tests. The average semester is 16 credits so not even half a semester and some schools give zero credit for AP scores.

How much money to you have to pay for college? Do you know that some state colleges charge more for international students than they do for out of state students?

I have a lot of extracurricular activities more than an average Indian opting for graduation in USA. Believe me. Only my SAT CR score is abysmal. Moreover my TOEFL score is 108 out of 120. So, English proficiency is not a concern. I am a UNSW certified scholar. I am also a blogger and a freelancer.

I have also got 2 android apps uploaded on google play developed solely by me.

My 4 year budget is 100000$

I am also a Coca Cola intern

Purdue discourages taking AP credit in Calc for Engineers.

@DarkEclipse
Can you please tell me in which city did you live in India.
and what are your scores
and which university you attend
Let me tell you the fact
I knew everything…I just wanted opinions from Americans to get an idea whether I am correct or not.
I don’t have counselors in my town ; that’s why!

Yeah
I am opting for civil and environmental engg

@Ryanite How do you know? (I’m not saying you don’t, I’ve seen a lot of Indians with some impressive accomplishments)

You likely don’t know everything on this matter, and none of us likely do either.

If you wanted a simple, straight answer to your OP, the answer is “no” as you would only be able to obtain credit for at most two classes (6 credit hours) which is not a typical semester’s load. You’re probably not applying to MIT/Caltech, but if you were, those scores would earn you zero credit. You can look up all this stuff on AP credit policies online.

It’s basically been said, but AP scores are not used for admission so your SAT score is important. And if you are going into engineering I doubt you will get college credit for physics and/or calculus. I think most AP credit is given for classes outside your major because I think most schools want to teach you stuff within your major. But then again, you should check with the schools you are applying to. Their websites usually explain under what circumstances you’ll get credit. When we checked websites it was so varied–some schools my kids would have gotten tons of credit—others, very little or even none.

Where I live is none of your concern, that’s undisclosable in this forum. My scores are fine, you can check my posts.
I’m a high school senior. Furthermore, I’ve never heard of a “UNSW scholar”, since I was an expat in Australia as well. The only way you could be a UNSW scholar is if you graduated from there.

Let ME tell YOU the fact; YOU are assuming that YOU are a good applicant. WE are telling YOU that you have a chance, BUT it isn’t high. Why don’t you try Yahoo! Answers? Or any other forums? See if you get a different answer. It won’t differ either way.
