1] like me, you will be simultaneously applying to colleges (you will most likely have to do regular decisions) and taking the SAT on one of the following dates: october 14th, november 4th, and december 2nd. most colleges do not accept or are most likely on their way to examine your application without...oops. the SAT scores.

i suggest putting up a new thread to ask for some colleges with your preference of major (say, biology, literature, etc..whatever interests you) and get some recommendations from the CC experts. parent forums are ever so helpful, because parental units know EVERYTHING, whether you like it or not.

i also found the college matchmaker at collegeboard.com very helpful..you pick your location, type, size, competitive-ness of the school, sports, and it pukes up a list of colleges that might be worth your while to check out.

don't post things like "what are the requirements for ~~~ college?" because you can simply go to the admissions site of that college and you'll have the information in a snap.

2] if you did not do so well on the SAT, you might consider trying the ACT. it's basically another standarized testing, consisting of one hour blocks (idk the exact time) of math, writing, reading, and science. some of my friends who bombed the SAT aced the ACT...i personally bombed the ACT, but i like to think that i do better on my SAT.

best advice for SAT/ACT prep? practice, practice, practice. it's not sexy, but it's the only proven-effective way of raising your score.

above all, don't freak out. you'll get through it. we all will. eventually.

best of luck to you :]
