Hi.

Help.

I really want to transfer from my community college to a 4-year school for fall 2011. (forgive me for the length. I talk a lot and I've been obsessing over this for weeks.)

I'm a Chemistry major (want to double with English) and I'll have about 50 credits when I transfer. I'm honestly really worried that my coursework won't be "hard enough" to get me into my dream school of Wellesley. My community college doesn't offer many "difficult" courses at the campus I go to as it is painfully understaffed. (BTW, this is only my second complete semester.) I was told I should take my higher level science courses at the university that I want to transfer to, so I'm confused that--rigorous coursework at a CC or waiting until I transfer for classes like OChem and such.

Okay, my stats:
Major: Chemistry
GPA: 4.0
ACT: 26
Current coursework:
Algebra (the cc has a really long sequence of algebra we have to complete to take a higher math course. They stopped placing students based on HS work a few years ago. I technically should've been in Pre-Calc right away)
Honors US History to 1877
Intro to Organic Chemistry and Lab
Creative Writing
I was registered for Anatomy and Physiology, too, but I withdrew simply because it was too time consuming and made it difficult for me to find time to do Chemistry work and the professor only held office hours over Skype. Seriously, ***?!

My HS record isn't anything special, graduated in 2009 with a 3.2 GPA with a SHARP upward trend my junior and senior year with consistent 3.8s (2) and 4.0s (6). Is that taken into consideration? And no APs. I transferred HS my junior year and the counselor practically lied to my face and hissed that the school didn't have AP courses

Current ECs: Not many. I played the flute in HS and I'm currently getting back into it. I have a paid internship at Case Western Reserve University in an Organic Chemistry lab and soon a Pharmacology lab where a professor and I will be working on genetic cloning of cyanobacteria through a program at my community college. I'm in Phi Theta Kappa and I'm a member of the American Chemical Society. I'm also a part of the Honors Program and I've taken an honors course every semester and next semester I'll be taking two honors math courses.

Letters of Recs: They should be really good. I've asked an English professor I had last semester who really, really liked me and wrote a REALLY good one for me before to help get me my internship. I'm also planning on asking the professors I'll be working with at Case. One is an assistant Chemistry prof there and the other is technically a prof at my CC that is on sabbatical there and has taught intro Chem there during the summer for the past 10 years. I also plan on asking the Co-Director of the program that allows me to work in his lab. She really likes me too, I think. haha

My schools so far that I'm looking into are: Wellesley, Ohio State, Cleveland State (total safety school), Case Western Reserve University and Bryn Mawr College. (I'd prefer attending school either in OH, PA, NY or MA.) I just feel like these schools are totally at either ends of the spectrum with nothing in between. A dead fish could get into Cleveland State (the only thing they require is a ~2.0 for transfers) and I've heard OSU takes a sizable amount of OH community college students outside of Columbus. And with Wellesly and Bryn Mawr, I don't even think I could get in to either.

Help. Chances and school suggestions please?

Okay, I'll shut up now.

:)
