Freshman student at a college in the greater NYC region.

High School Stats:

SAT - 2080 - 750 W 710 M 620 V
GPA - 3.77 Weighted 3.55 Unweighted (arguably the biggest pitfall)
AP - 5 in Gov, 4 in Eco, 3 in US and World History
Activities - Two Varsity Letters, Baseball Captain, Eagle Scout, National Honor Society, FBLA Treasurer, the whole nine yards ...

these stats got me into penn state, saint joseph's university, and my current school. Wait listed at Lehigh and Wake Forest. Denied BC, Georgetown, NYU, GW

College Stats: (first semester) Economics Major - Honors Program

GPA - 3.96 - A's in all business course and 1 required core (calc, CIS, eco, envi sci) A- in Lit

Activities - University Eco and Finance society, University Debate team

Got an internship on wall street this semester at a wealth management firm. Learned a great deal about finance at the firm and my essays + recommendations will reflect my experiences.

I am reapplying to Georgetown, I felt that my interview last year was very strong, what do you think my chances are at transfer?

You don’t say what school you’re at, so the value of your 3.94 GPA is impossible to assess.

However, assuming (possibly incorrectly) that it is an “easier” school than all those from which you were rejected and WLed, I don’t know that GU will be terribly impressed by it.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

St. John’s University - Tobin School of Business

any other thoughts?

Your SATs and GPA are VERY low for GU, and while your GPA in college (how many semesters does that represent?) is something to be really proud of, I have my doubts it will be sufficient for GU.
That being said, you should definitely give it a shot. If you don’t get in, so what? If you do, you get your dream.
Good luck!

WCASParent … seeing that your id has the word “parent” in it, did you have any children get into GTown?

They had no interest in GU and did not apply.

o ok … btw just to clarify this is for fall 2010 admission not spring

how are his SATs too low when the average is around 1350-1420?.. for transfers? i think thats considered “above average” for what Georgetown looks at (CR+M)…

Also I think it is a plus that I was able to turn around my biggest pitfall - my gpa - from high school to college. Thanks for the post

Because 1330 SATs are very low for GU.

any other thoughts??

Keep your hopes up Zack, display a lot of interest in Georgetown and keep fighting for it, I’m a transfer hopeful too. Your SAT’s seem a bit low (mine are too, 2090) but nevertheless we’re still within range.

Anyone care to chance a 2090 SAT, 30-hr work week, 16 credit per semester schedule, 3.2 college GPA, 3.8 high school GPA, extensive extracurriculars & volunteer work, previously waitlisted, currently at Villanova freshman?
