So I'm starting out at my CC for the fact I couldn't really afford a university, well for next year I believe I will have the money for a university and I would love to attend UT Austin and enter their RTF program. I already have 18 transferrable credits from taking Dual Credit classes in high school so I already have that. My first semester I'm taking classes I know will transfer (World Literature II, Macroeconomics, Advertising Mass Media, Interpersonal Speech), the down side to those classes is I only chose them because my CC cancelled their Digital Media Production program only a week ago and I had to select new classes right away.

Now, if I keep a very high GPA in all of these classes, write very good essays and get good recommendation letters is there a good chance I'll transfer?

Any extra info will be greatly welcomed, thanks!

Yeah man it’s definitely attainable. I’ve had quite a few friends transfer from a community college to UT Austin. The most important thing is your GPA, so work hard and don’t lose track of your goal. The lowest GPA of my friends accepted was a 3.5 I believe, but it wasn’t in a very competitive program. Make all A’s and participate in some extra curricular activities and you’ll be going to school there next year.

So the classes I take won’t really matter on my acceptance?

Would it be possible to get a reply as to my previous question?

I just would like to know if the admissions office will think these classes are fine, especially if I keep all As in them? They are the classes that are in the recommended section of the RTF transferable credits.

You’ll most likely be taking general education classes which are universal so they should transfer over. I would see if you have to complete any prerequisites for your major. Also try to see if they’re is any articulation between UT Austin and your current CC. This will save you time and effort because there will already be a select group of classes that are guaranteed to transfer.

I’ve already done the reading and all the classes I’m taking and have taken are all transferrable.
