I want to transfer out of UCSB, hopefully to another UC, advice?

Hi!

I'm a second year Actuarial Science (statistics) student at UCSB with junior standing (as in, I have the same class standing as third-years in terms of units).

I fell in love with UCSB when I was a senior in high school, but as I enter my second year I can't help but hate it more and more every day. I want to get out and start somewhere with a less pressuring social scene with the only way to maintain a social life is to party every weekend.

The problem is that I haven't been doing too well at UCSB. I have a 3.1 overall GPA but a 3.5 major GPA. I screwed up a lot my freshman year trying to "find myself." I was a fool.

Do you guy shave any suggestions as to what I should do? When I applied for my freshman year of college, I was accepted to UCSD and USC.

My high schools stats are much more impressive than my college stats. But I feel like I'm killing myself by staying here--I'm depressed and in need of a change. What can I do? What UCs or non-UCs should I consider?

I don't have many extracurriculars, but I'm joining clubs now to find a different scene mostly.

I'd appreciate any help!

If you expect to reach senior standing by the end of the academic year, then you will be ineligible for transfer admission consideration at most UCs (the only clear exceptions are Irvine and Riverside).

Is you class standing due to APs? Because I don’t think they count against you in terms of unit limits (MsSun can correct me if I’m wrong).

@firefly00, you are right. AP/IB credits don’t count toward the maximum … thanks for catching that!
