About an overachieving high school student. Considering 99% of you are high schoolers I'd like to see what your opinion would be on a synopsis like this:

"[ ] epitomizes the stereotype of the overachieving high school studentbest in his* class with aspirations to attend an elite university, all to please his family who pressures him to go above and beyond the call of duty in academics. [ ] begins to question his perseverance in school, if the sweat and blood of it all will really make all the difference. Debating if competition to earn the best grades is worth more than pursuing the true meaning of education and learning, [ ] is presented not only with a taste of rebellion against a lifelong goal, but also moral and ethic conflicts within his own family. As he discovers the art of knowledge, [ ] learns to enjoy academia than treat it as a survival of the fittest.

Just let me know what you think. Would you read a story like that?

So basically just a carbon copy of The Overachievers?

I didn’t even think of that. Oops… well, that was a non-fiction study on multiple overachieving students and this is an introspective fiction story of one overachieving student. Haha… yeah that probably won’t work out :/

Hm, I would say that description fits many people I know. Except for the actually considering whether or not it’s right part. That doesn’t seem to manifest itself a lot. But good luck with your story. When you’re done, you should let us know.

Thanks. For now it’s just an idea. If I do try to write it, I want to make sure it’s not gonna be just a straight-forward sob story.

First thing I thought of was the overachievers

this sounds interesting… I don’t think it’s a carbon copy of The Overachievers. Same kind of person but this story seems to be doing its own thing. Besides similar concepts are going to be used and reused. Twilight sure isn’t original, but it was very successful… even though it sucks and the only reason for its popularity was the sparkly sexy vampires.

I wouldn’t read it. Sorry, just sounds too much like real life. I like post-apocalyptic dystopia novels.

And the movie Election, with Reese Witherspoon.

write it, who cares what other people think

your book is gonna be different from the overachievers just because it’s you writing it. there are lots of books on any given topic and it doesn’t make yours any less promising.
