I want you to hit me as hard as you can.

I know these threads get annoying but please can anyone tell me if I seem like I've got a good shot at these schools?

GPA: 90/100 (unweighted)
ACT: 31 (35 E, 29 M, 33 CR, 25 Sci, 8 Essay)

My school doesn't rank GPAs, but I'm towards the top

I've taken the most rigorous course load offered at my school, and have taken all advanced classes, no on-levels.

ECs: Lots of theatre (all four years), National Honor Society (Secretary), Junior Statesmen of America (Treasurer), Varsity Softball (Freshman and Sophomore Years), Human Rights Club (will probably be President this year), BBYO (a youth group that I was Secretary and Vice President of as an underclassman)

Recommendations: should be AWESOME (from my Physics teacher and English teacher, both of whom love me)

Also I'm a white female from Texas, if that matters

What do you think? What should I improve on?

The schools I'm looking at are:

Rice (currently my top choice)
U. Chicago
Emory
Vanderbilt
U. Texas (Plan II Honors)
Brown
Duke (maybe)

and I have safeties, also

great chance: emory, vanderbilt
good chance: chicago, rice
try to get higher scores/ fill your stat: brown and duke

not sure about texas

BEST thread title ever

i agree with the above person about your chances, except for uchicago, that one really depends on the character of your application

b4nnd, what do you mean by the character of my application?

meaning essays

college isn't for you.Horrible @ everything.Try the army.

way to boost my self esteem, tomatoking

Well you have decent stats and everything looks in order. I think most of those schools are high matches to reaches with the final decison being placed on the quality of your essays. I expect you to get into at least a third of those schools and if you let Rice know they are your number one choice you'll probably get in. Though, with poor essays, I would not be too surprised if you are denied from all the schools (except U Texas).

Please chance me at:

bump.......

c'mon people, 122 views and 2 opinions??

Have you taken the SAT or SAT II in any subjects?
You might be able to get a better ACT score (I got a 25 on my science the first time, then I read a bit about how to do it). Otherwise, I'd say you're in at Texas, Rice, Vanderbilt. Brown, Duke and Emory are high reaches.

You look fine for some of these schools. Try taking the ACTs again.

Your ECs are underwhelming.

You look solid overall, weaknesses do include a lack of ECs but only in number. If you can explain how dedicated you were to theater in the box for additional info, for example, it would help. I wouldn't say you couldn't get into any of those schools, but it might be too late for me to suggest an SAT and SAT II for the East Coast schools. A lot of this hinges on your essay cause you're on the bubble for the schools you listed.

SLAP

anyways nice ECs showing commitment.

My SAT IIs were ish (640 US History, 690 Math IC) but only Rice will be seeing them. Also, if I were able to improve my ACT score to a 33-34, do you feel that my chances would be very different?

hell yeah...

Your thread title PWNS!

If you can raise your ACT, I think you're in everywhere. But you're definitely in Emory, Vanderbilt, Chicago, and Rice. You should be in at Texas, but I'm not sure about the Honors program... Don't know how hard it is to get into.

i find the title sucky. i don't really understand why other posters are so thrilled by it? perhaps it's because that they rather enjoy hitting things....

reject by brown and duke. possibly in at the rest
