I was accepted but...

I WAS Accepted!!! BUT NO AID!! Damn!

Should I send in a picture of me dressed as a spider or what?!

I WANT TO ATTEND UR!!!

Welcome to UR. No blue light specials for you it seems. Your parents ain't broke, and you're apparently not a Rhodes candidate. Sorry to hear you too bought the bait n switch line. :(

My parents can't even pay a quarter of the amount! It seriously ***es me off when people who *Really dont want to attend UR get aid and others who DO want to go there DONT!

I am ready to do ANYTHING! Just lemme come to UR! sigh

Ajayc, I'm so sorry! :( I can't even imagine how frustrated you must be, since I know how badly you want to go to UR. I wish I knew how to help... have you applied for any outside scholarships? I know every little bit of money helps, but UR is so expensive...

There are no outside scholarships here in India, kelliebm. I have appealed to the Admissions Office. Lets hope for the best. I will FedEx myself if they dont give me aid.

If i may ask, did u apply ED or RD?

ajayc, don't feel so bad, it happened to me too. I just checked my email today and there it was the acceptance, with absolutely no aid. There is absolutely no way I can afford to pay Richmond; not even a quarter of it. Oh well. I really liked Richmond and had looked into it for several months now, but I always thought about this possibility and it ended up occurring. Lets hope that we receive more positive news from other universities, afterall what can we do. I do appreciate the time and effort dia lysner, mickie campos, and other admission officers took when making this decision. But, what can I say lets hope for the best from other universities!

You can't really blame the university for not giving you aid. More than likely, that aid money is going to the students who are financial situations worse than yours.

I got accepted to the University of Chicago EA but no financial aid whatsoever. I will not be able to attend unless I get a merit based scholarship from them in the following weeks.

worse than mine? My parents can't contribute even a fraction of the cost...

It really is unfortunate that you are in such a situation but you aren't alone. Many students will not be able to go to their favorite schools because of money issues. If you feel like injustice has been done then you could try calling up the financial aid office and talking to them about your situation. i doubt that will help, but trying never heard anything.

^ I completely understand that, mate. I have sent a mail to the Office to see if anything can be done.

yug, I suppose it's all over. I also got accepted without fin aid yesterday... I presume they admit only 20-30 international applicants with fin aid. Are you all internationals who got admission decisions from UR yesterday?

why is UR so appealling to you?

Alex: Yes, got the decision yesterday.

ojin : Everything, mate! EVERYTHING! The size, the campus, social life, research opportunities... the list goes on!

Yes I am an international student.

Whitle, I'm not sure why you're calling it a bait and switch. Any particular reason?

Not again.....

And where from do you conjure up that list? I didn't apply to more than half of them...sheeeesh
