I was accepted to a school I don't meet the requirements for.

Hi everyone. I applied to a school as a sophomore transfer for Fall of 2011, and after I had submitted my applications and everything, I found out that they required all transfers into the major I had applied for to take a class that I have never taken. I was kind of worried about how it would end up, it turns out I was accepted anyways.

So what should I do now? I really want to go to this school, but I don't want to have it be like the middle of May when they do the transfer credit evaluation and have them say "Oh hey, you're un-admitted because we didn't look carefully enough at the classes you've taken and our requirements." I didn't say I was taking this class on the application or anything like that...what should I do?

If you’ve been accepted, they are probably aware that you haven’t taken the class. I would e-mail admissions with your concern, and also offer to take the course over the summer or during your first semester.

The site says pretty explicitly that all required courses must be taken one semester BEFORE enrolling…in other words, if you want to enroll for Fall, you cannot take any of the classes required to enroll in summer, they all have to be finished by the end of spring…I just don’t know. One part of me wants to just…ignore it, and see what happens, because they might just rescind my acceptance if I bring their attention to it, but on the other hand I’m kind of pessimistic, because they say that it’s important that you send your transcript in at the end of this semester and that it shows that you have taken all required classes and are in good academic standing.

The required class is biology. I got a 4 on the AP Bio test, but the school requires a 5 for credit. I know my ap scores are on my high school transcript, but still…

Unless you’re applying through some sort of guaranteed transfer agreement, I can’t see them rescinding your admission from one missing class. However, I wouldn’t ignore it. You could end up losing a deposit and a space at another school should they actually turn you away.

“one semester BEFORE enrolling”

This means the same thing as “no later than the semester before enrolling”. They want you to have completed that class before you get there. Summer will be OK because you will have the summer session grades before you start classes at the new place.

But just to be sure, pick up the phone, call them, and straighten this out.
