When I first applied to University of Minnesota, I applied to be an environmental sciences major just because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be and had some interest in the subject. But after putting more thought into my future, I realized I would be happier with a communications major and minor in journalism. I committed/enrolled to the college under the environmental sciences major title, so how would I go about changing my major? I looked on the website’s FAQs for freshman and admissions but couldn’t find anything that helped.
Do you have to apply to a specific undegraduate school or the college itself?
If you had to apply to a specific undegraduate school, then it would be good if the school has a communications department. If not, you may have to transfer undegraduate schools.
You won’t be able to change your declared major now, but you can change as a freshman at the school. A third of college students change majors at least once.
My advice above was on the basis of an assumption that you were admitted to the University of Minnesota during December.
If you are already an enrolled student, talk
to your advisor on changing majors.
The environmental sciences, policy, and management major is in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resources Sciences. The communication studies major is the College of Liberal Arts.

It sounds like you just have to complete a Change of College form.
